Robert W. Pritchard
Robert W. Pritchard (born February 2, 1945) is a Republican politician who serves on the Northern Illinois University Board of Trustees. He was previously a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 70th district from December 2003 until July 2018. The 70th district included parts of DeKalb County, Kane and Boone counties. Early life, education and career Pritchard was born February 2, 1945 in Aurora, Illinois. He grew up on a farm near Hinckley, Illinois. Pritchard majored in communications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned both a bachelor's and master's degree. His wife, Mary, is an Associate Dean at Northern Illinois University. They have two grown sons. After graduation, Pritchard returned to work on the family farm, but also began working as a radio and TV broadcaster for local stations. ''The State Journal-Register'' is the only local daily newspaper for Springfield, Illinois, and its surrounding area. It was founded in 1831 as the ''Sangamo Journal'' by William Bailhache and Edward Baker, and describes itself as "the oldest newspaper in Illinois". As such, it and its editor, Edward L. DeKalb ( ) is a city in DeKalb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 43,862 according to the 2010 census, up from 39,018 at the 2000 census. Northern Public Radio is the public radio service of Northern Illinois University. It consists of two full-powered FM stations and three lower-powered satellites, all affiliated with National Public Radio. The group is headquartered at NIU's campus in DeKalb, Illinois, with additional studios in Rockford. Although DeKalb is part of the Chicago radio market, Northern Public Radio serves as the NPR member for the Rockford market.
