Robert W. Morgan
Robert Wilbur Morgan (July 23, 1937 – May 22, 1998) was an American radio personality best known for his work at several stations in Los Angeles, California, in particular KHJ (AM), KHJ-AM. Morgan also did morning drive at KMPC-AM, KKLQ (FM), KIQQ-FM and KPWR, KMGG-FM, and finished his career at KRTH-FM, where he retired for health reasons in 1997. He died from lung cancer on May 22, 1998. Biography Early years As a youth growing up in Galion, Ohio, Morgan's interest was piqued while listening to his favorite DJs on Cleveland's top forty giant WTAM, KYW (then on 1100 AM before they moved to Philadelphia) which would eventually lead to his first on-air job at Wooster College in 1955 on WWST & WWST-FM, for an initial salary of $1 per hour. Galion, Ohio
Galion is a city in Crawford, Morrow, and Richland counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 10,453 at the 2020 census. Galion is the second-largest city in Crawford County after Bucyrus. The Crawford County portion of Galion is part of the Bucyrus Micropolitan Statistical Area. The small portion of the city that is located in Richland County is part of the Mansfield Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the portion extending into Morrow County is considered part of the Columbus Metropolitan Statistical Area. Carmel-by-the-Sea (), often simply called Carmel, is a city in Monterey County, California, United States, founded in 1902 and incorporated on October 31, 1916. KNEW (960 AM) is an American biz news radio station licensed to Oakland, California, and serving the San Francisco Bay Area. It is owned by iHeartMedia and most of the programming comes from Bloomberg Radio. KNEW also carries Oakland Athletics baseball games. The radio studios are located in the SoMa district of San Francisco. KNEW transmits 5,000 watts using a three-tower array directional antenna at all times. KCVV (1240 kHz) is an AM radio station in Sacramento, California. It is owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento and airs a Spanish language Catholic radio format. English language Catholic programming is heard on KSMH (1620 AM) in West Sacramento. KCVV is powered at 1,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna. Ron Jacobs (September 3, 1937 – March 8, 2016) was an American broadcaster, author of books and magazines, record producer and concert promoter. He is best known as the program director of KHJ (AM), KHJ radio in Los Angeles during its ground-breaking "Boss Radio" period (1965–1969), and as co-creator of the countdown show ''American Top 40'', and the seminal radio program ''The History of Rock and Roll'' (1969). Early career in Hawaii Jacobs was born in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, on September 3, 1937. His parents, Ray (a merchant) and Shirley (a homemaker) moved to the Islands from New York and New Jersey in April 1937. Jacobs was born in The Queens Hospital in Honolulu.
