Robert Sands (September 15, 1943 –) is an accomplished designer, painter and director from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He studied painting and design at the Ivy School of Professional Art under Abe Weiner, Marie Kelly, Roy Hunter, and Everett Sturgeon. Sands is the owner and founder of Terminal Graphics, a Pittsburgh-based design firm recognized both locally and internationally. His company specializes in imaginative and vibrant sets, lighting designs, large-scale entertainment presentations, advertising campaigns, electronic graphics and video/web productions. Robert Scott Sands (born 1958/59) is an American billionaire businessman, and the executive chair and former CEO of Constellation Brands, a Fortune 500 beer, wine and spirits company founded by his father Marvin Sands. Early life Robert Scott Sands is the son of Marvin Sands, and has an older brother, Richard Sands. He grew up in Canandaigua, New York, and was educated at The Harley School in Rochester, New York, graduating in 1976. Sands earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from Skidmore College, followed by a juris doctor from Pace University. Career Marvin Sands founded the Canandaigua Wine Company in 1945, aged 21. By 1980, its annual sales topped $50 million, and was renamed Constellation Brands in 2000, and has acquired numerous companies including Robert Mondavi wine and Svedka vodka. Robert Sands (conductor)
Robert Sands (April 15, 1828 – December 7, 1872) was the fifth conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir; however, he was the first after the building of the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior to Sands taking over as conductor, the choir was led by Charles J. Thomas and performed in the "Old Tabernacle", which was also on Temple Square. Biography Sands was born in Ballinascreen, County Londonderry, Ireland. He moved to Scotland, where he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1849 and then served for a time as a Mormon missionary in Scotland. Sands emigrated to Utah Territory in 1863. He became the fifth director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in November 1865. In October 1867, he led the choir in its first performance in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. In 1869 he was succeeded as director of the choir by George Careless. Bobby Sands
Robert Gerard Sands ( ga, Roibeárd Gearóid Ó Seachnasaigh; 9 March 1954 – 5 May 1981) was a member (and leader in the Maze prison) of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) who died on hunger strike while imprisoned at HM Prison Maze in Northern Ireland. Sands helped to plan the 1976 bombing of the Balmoral Furniture Company in Dunmurry, which was followed by a gun battle with the Royal Ulster Constabulary. Sands was arrested while trying to escape and sentenced to 14 years for firearms possession. He was the leader of the 1981 hunger strike in which Irish republican prisoners protested against the removal of Special Category Status. During Sands's strike, he was elected to the British Parliament as an Anti H-Block candidate. His death and those of nine other hunger strikers was followed by a new surge of IRA recruitment and activity. International media coverage brought attention to the hunger strikers, and the republican movement in general, attracting both praise ... Biography Robert Charles Sands was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 11, 1799, the son of Auditor-General Comfort Sands. He was a scholar and a writer of many literary types, but without much originality. His best work is considered to be in his short stories. His most well-known poem is '' Yamoyden'' which is an Indian story written in collaboration with a friend. He is considered part of the "Knickerbocker group", which also included Washington Irving, William Cullen Bryant, James Kirke Paulding, Gulian Crommelin Verplanck, Fitz-Greene Halleck, Joseph Rodman Drake, Lydia M.
