Robert Rigby
Robert Rigby began his career as a journalist, then spent several years in the music business as a songwriter and session musician. In 1978, the independent record label Flight, released a single by Rigby and the following year Fusion Records (a subsidiary of Rediffusion) released the "Let The Music Play" single. Around this time Rigby also wrote the ''Rock Star'' musical, based on the Nativity story. This was recorded and released as an album by Fusion records, produced by Daniel Brown and Mike Wade. He turned to writing for radio, television and the theatre, and has also directed and performed in children’s theatre throughout the country. Songwriter
A songwriter is a musician who professionally composes musical compositions or writes lyrics for songs, or both. Session Musician
Session musicians, studio musicians, or backing musicians are musicians hired to perform in recording sessions or live performances. The term sideman is also used in the case of live performances, such as accompanying a recording artist on a tour. Session musicians are usually not permanent or official members of a musical ensemble or band. Independent Record Label
An independent record label (or indie label) is a record label that operates without the funding or distribution of major record labels; they are a type of small- to medium-sized enterprise, or SME. Rediffusion was a business that distributed radio and TV signals through wired relay networks. The business gave rise to a number of other companies, including Associated-Rediffusion, later known as Rediffusion London, the first ITV (commercial television) franchisee to go on air in the UK. A playwright or dramatist is a person who writes plays. Etymology The word "play" is from Middle English pleye, from Old English plæġ, pleġa, plæġa ("play, exercise; sport, game; drama, applause"). The word "wright" is an archaic English term for a craftsman or builder (as in a wheelwright or cartwright). The words combine to indicate a person who has "wrought" words, themes, and other elements into a dramatic form—a play. (The homophone with "write" is coincidental.) Byker Grove
Byker is a district in the east of the city and metropolitan borough of Newcastle upon Tyne. Steven Billy Mitchell, (born 28 December 1959), usually known by the pseudonym and pen-name of Andy McNab, is a novelist and former British Army infantry soldier. Y Touring Theatre Company was a national touring theatre company which produced original plays and debates exploring contemporary issues. It was founded in 1989 by Nigel Townsend.
