200px, Robert Price. Robert Price (14 January 1653 – 2 February 1733) was a British judge and politician. Early life Robert Price, a Welshman, was born in early 1653 (1654 in the Gregorian calendar), the eldest son of Thomas Price of Giler in Cerrigydrudion, Denbighshire, by Margaret, only child of Thomas Wynn of Bwlch y Beudy in the same parish. He was educated at Ruthin Grammar School and St John's College, Cambridge, after which he entered Lincoln's Inn before making the Grand Tour. Career On 23 September 1679 Price married Lucy, eldest daughter and coheiress of Robert Rodd of Foxley in Yazor, Herefordshire, by Ann Sophia, only child of Thomas Neale of Warneford, Hampshire. Robert Rodd died two years later and Price inherited the Foxley estate. Sir Robert Price, 2nd Baronet
Sir Robert Price, 2nd Baronet (3 August 1786 – 6 November 1857) was a British baronet and Member of Parliament. Robert Price was the only son of Sir Uvedale Price, the writer on the Picturesque, by Lady Caroline Carpenter, fourth daughter of George Carpenter, 1st Earl of Tyrconnel. He was MP for Herefordshire from 1818 until 1841. On 8 July 1823 he married his first cousin Mary Anne Elizabeth, daughter of Rev. Dr. Robert Price, Canon of Salisbury and Prebendary of Durham, by his second wife Mary Anne Sanderson. The marriage took place at the house of Barrington Price, then of Haslemere, the youngest of his six uncles on his father's side. Sir Uvedale Price died in 1829 and Robert succeeded as 2nd Baronet of Foxley. Sir Robert stood for election to the constituency of Hereford City in 1845; he was unopposed, and remained the city's MP until January 1857. Robert Price (Liberal Politician)
Sir Robert John Price (26 April 1854 – 18 April 1926) was a British surgeon, barrister and Liberal Party politician. He sat in the House of Commons from 1892 to 1918, and was one of only a few British politicians to have also pursued careers in both medicine and the law. He was the son of Edward Price of Highgate, North London and his wife Elvina née Mountford. He was educated at Cholmeley School, better known as Highgate School, in Highgate and at University College Hospital, where he graduated M.R.C.S.E. in 1876. He was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1883. Price elected at the 1892 general election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for East Norfolk, and held the seat until he retired from Parliament at the 1918 general election. He was knighted in 1908. Price died on 18 April 1926, a week before his 72nd birthday, at Sussex Mansions in London. Robert Price (1717–1761) was an English gentleman, known as an artist for his drawings, and as a musical amateur. He contributed to the garden design at the family property of Foxley, Herefordshire, was an art patron, and was the father of Uvedale Price, theorist of the picturesque. Early life He was the son of Uvedale Tomkyns Price and his wife Anne Somerset, daughter of Lord Arthur Somerset who was the second son of Henry Somerset, 1st Duke of Beaufort. He was educated at Winchester College. Grand Tour Price undertook an extended Grand Tour in Italy and Geneva, from 1738 to 1741. Robert Price (7 July 1929 – 3 December 2008) was an American electrical engineer, known best for his research in spread spectrum and radar technology. Price was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He majored in physics at Princeton University (1950) and then received his Sc.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1953). While working in the MIT Lincoln Laboratories, he was the co-creator of the Rake receiver, together with Paul Green. The Rake receiver has been described as "historically the most important adaptive receiver for fading multipath channels." They also supervised its deployment in a first-ever spread-spectrum system, the Lincoln F9C (1950). Price and Green also attempted to bounce radar waves off the planet Venus (1958). With Gordon Pettengill, the two of them worked out a theory of range- Doppler mapping that was used on the Magellan probe mapping of Venus' surface 20 years later.
