Robert Mendenhall
Robert Winton Mendenhall (born November 18, 1954) is a pioneer of educational technology and entrepreneurship best known as the former president of Western Governors University (WGU). Family and church life Mendenhall is a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man he served a two-year mission in the Mexico Veracruz mission. He has served in multiple church leadership roles including Bishop and Stake president. He is married to Kathleen White and they have 7 children and 25 grandchildren, the oldest of which is named Jake Rice. Former president of Western Governors University Dr. Mendenhall became president of Western Governors University in 1999, the same year the university enrolled its first students. Western Governors University (WGU) is a private online university based in Millcreek, Utah. The university uses an online competency-based learning model. Degrees awarded by WGU are accredited by the NWCCU, ACBSP, CAEP, CAHIIM, and CCNE. The university was founded by 19 U.S. governors in 1997 after the idea was formulated at a 1995 meeting of the Western Governors Association to expand education offerings to the internet. Wicat Systems
Wicat Systems was an American computer and software company founded in 1980 in Orem, Utah. Originally a branch of WICAT, the World Institute for Computer-Assisted Teaching (later the Wicat Education Institute), the company manufactured multi-user systems for educational institutions before focusing their efforts on educational software development in the early 1990s. The company was among the first to use the Motorola 68000 microprocessor in a computer with the introduction of the Wicat System 100 in 1980.
