Robert Lee (musician)
Robert Lee Jun-fai (born 16 December 1948) is a Hong Kong musician. He is the younger brother of martial artist Bruce Lee. Early life Lee was born on 16 December 1948 in Hong Kong as the youngest son of Grace Ho () and Lee Hoi-chuen (), a leading Chinese Cantonese opera and film actor of the 1940s. Career Lee was the founder of a Hong Kong beat band called The Thunderbirds, a beat group in the same Hong Kong/Macau musical scene as Danny Diaz & The Checkmates, Zoundcrakers, Anders Nelson & The Inspiration, D'Topnotes and Teddy Robin & The Playboys. He founded the group in 1966 and quickly became famous in Hong Kong. A few singles were sung mostly or all in English. Also released was Lee singing a duet with Irene Ryder. He later moved to Los Angeles in the United States and stayed with his older brother Bruce Lee. After Bruce's death, Robert released an album dedicated to him called ''The Ballad of Bruce Lee''. Cantonese opera is one of the major categories in Chinese opera, originating in southern China's Guangdong Province. It is popular in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hong Kong, Macau and among Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. Cantonese People
The Cantonese people () or Yue people (), are a Yue-speaking Han Chinese subgroup originating from or residing in the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi (collectively known as Liangguang), in Southern Mainland China. Although more accurately, "Cantonese" refers only to Han Chinese with roots from Guangzhou and its satellite cities and towns, rather than simply and generally referring to the people of the Liangguang region. Historically centered and predominant in the Pearl River Basin shared between Guangdong and Guangxi, the Cantonese people are also responsible for establishing their native language's usage in Hong Kong and Macau during their 19th century migrations within the times of the British and Portuguese colonial eras respectively. Danny Diaz & The Checkmates were a Filipino rock band, based in Hong Kong in the 1960s. Background They were part of the Hong Kong beat group scene between 1964 and 1969, that included other Hong Kong groups, such as Anders Nelson & The Inspiration, D'Topnotes, Fabulous Echoes, Joe Jr. & The Side Effects, Teddy Robin & The Playboys, Lotus, Magic Carpets, Mod East and Mystics and The Thunderbirds.
