Robert Lebel (bishop)
Robert Lebel (8 November 1924 – 25 May 2015) was a Canadian Catholic bishop. Born in Trois-Pistoles, Quebec, Canada, Lebel was ordained to the priesthood in 1950 and was appointed titular bishop of ''Alinda'' and auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint-Jean-Longueuil in 1974. In 1976, he was appointed bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Valleyfield and retired in 2000. Trois-Pistoles, Quebec
Trois-Pistoles is a city in Les Basques Regional County Municipality in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec, Canada. It is also the county seat. The town is located on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River. A ferry crosses the river to Les Escoumins on the north shore. The port facilities are also used by fishing boats and scuba divers. The town is the site of the University of Western Ontario's annual French immersion program, which has existed since 1932. It is the oldest such program in Canada. Just offshore of the town lies Île aux Basques, an island that was used by Basque whalers in the 16th century. The island, part of the surrounding Municipality of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, is a National Historic Site of Canada and is now a migratory bird sanctuary. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Valleyfield ( la, Dioecesis Campivallensis) is a Catholic diocese in Quebec and a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Montreal. It was erected in 1892. The diocese, which is based in the western suburbs of Montreal, features approximately 201,000 baptized Catholics. Mallersdorf Abbey
Mallersdorf Abbey (Abtei or Kloster Mallersdorf) was formerly a monastery of the Benedictine Order and is now a Franciscan convent in Mallersdorf-Pfaffenberg in Bavaria. History The monastery, dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist, was founded in 1107 by Heinrich of Kirchberg, a '' ministerialis'' of Niedermünster in Regensburg, and settled by monks from either the monastery of Michelsberg in Bamberg or St. Emmeram's Abbey in Regensburg. Under Abbot Eppo (1122-1143) the reforming influences of the monasteries of St. Georgen im Schwarzwald and of Hirsau had a significant impact. At this time the community was subordinated to Otto I, Bishop of Bamberg and placed under the direct protection of Pope Innocent II (1130-1143).
