Robert Lachowicz
Robert Lachowicz ( ; born 8 February 1990) is an English professional ice hockey left winger who is currently playing for Elite Ice Hockey League side Glasgow Clan. Lachowicz spent over ten years playing with the Nottingham Panthers, winning nine trophies. He also had a brief stint with Manchester Phoenix in 2009, playing in the English Premier Ice Hockey League, before returning to play in Nottingham. He is also a member of the Great Britain national ice hockey team. In October 2020, following the suspension of the 2020–21 Elite League season due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, Lachowicz moved to Germany to sign for Füchse Duisburg. In February 2021, Lachowicz signed for Telford Tigers ahead of their NIHL Spring Cup series. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Elite Ice Hockey League
The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL), sometimes referred to as the British Elite League or, for sponsorship reasons, the Viaplay Elite League, is an ice hockey league in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2003 following the demise of the Ice Hockey Superleague, it is the highest level of ice hockey competition in the United Kingdom. The league operate three competitions for members; the play-offs determine the national champion for the season, following a regular season league competition for which separate champions are also crowned, and which selects and seeds the teams in the play-offs. The National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) is a set of professional ice hockey leagues administered by the English Ice Hockey Association. It is currently the second tier of British ice hockey, below the Elite Ice Hockey League. Formerly called the English National Ice Hockey League (ENIHL), it was renamed in 2012 to recognise the inclusion of several teams from Scotland and Wales. The Great Britain men's national ice hockey team (also known as Team GB) is the national ice hockey team that represents the United Kingdom. The English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) was an ice hockey league of 10 teams, all of which were based in England. Headquartered in Blackpool, the EPIHL was one of two professional ice hockey leagues in the United Kingdom (the other being the Elite Ice Hockey League).
