Quiet Nights (Diana Krall Album)
''Quiet Nights'' is the tenth studio album by Canadian singer Diana Krall, released on March 31, 2009, by Verve Records. Background The album marks Krall's first work with arranger Claus Ogerman since 2002's ''Live in Paris'', and her first studio work with Ogerman since 2001's '' The Look of Love''. In 2010, the title track earned Claus Ogerman the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s). The album's title comes from the English-language title of the bossa nova standard " Corcovado", written by Antonio Carlos Jobim and first made popular in the early 1960s. The title track is one of three selections written or co-written by Jobim. Krall had previously included the Jobim-penned "How Insensitive" ("Insensatez") on her 2006 release '' From This Moment On'', and performed Jobim's "The Girl from Ipanema" (retitled "The Boy from Ipanema") with Rosemary Clooney on the latter's 2000 album ''Brazil''. From This Moment On (album)
''From This Moment On'' is the ninth studio album by Canadian singer Diana Krall, released on September 19, 2006, by Verve Records. The album debuted atop the Canadian Albums Chart, making it Krall's third consecutive number-one album. It was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the 2007 Grammy Awards. Critical reception Christopher Loudon of ''JazzTimes'' wrote, "Never before, though, have her vocals or her playing evoked such profound contentment and easy self-assurance. Nor has any previous Krall standards set displayed such tremendous stylistic breadth." John Fordham of ''The Guardian'' stated that "''From This Moment On'' is full of classy execution, but it's familiar territory for Krall and her fans. David Was of NPR commented that "Diana Krall is the undisputed superstar of jazz-inflected singers in the last decade or so, and her new album on Verve, ''From This Moment On''—mostly standards done with big-band arrangements—is a return to her usual form". Jane Cornwell ...

Christmas Songs (Diana Krall Album)
''Christmas Songs'' is the eighth studio album by Canadian singer Diana Krall, performed with The Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. It was released on October 26, 2005, by Verve Records. This is Krall's first full-length album of Christmas songs (not counting her 1998 EP ''Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas''), and her first studio album with a big band. The album was released on vinyl for the first time on October 14, 2016. Critical reception Tad Hendrickson of ''JazzTimes'' stated, "Krall gets a ton of help on her Christmas album from the well-drilled Clayton–Hamilton Jazz Orchestra as well as from the usual peeps in her own bands. The singer doesn't work too hard to sell it, preferring to stay in the pocket, and the solos are short all the way around, but it all sounds swingin', fun and jazzy". John Bungey of ''The Times'' noted, "If your idea of a perfect Yuletide is Jimmy Stewart on the telly and Bing on the radio, and you believe that, musically, it's all been downhill ...

Reception

The review by Scott Yanow stated "Fine '90 date by a Memphis pianist. He plays nice bluesy chords and gospel-influenced phrases, but is also an effective straight-ahead and hard bop improviser. He's backed by a large group that features an interesting configuration with a trumpet/alto sax/vibes front line, and also uses vocals at times".
