Robert Marsden Hope
Robert Marsden Hope, (24 July 1919 – 12 October 1999) was a Justice of the New South Wales Court of Appeal and Royal Commissioner on three separate occasions, most notably the Royal Commission on Intelligence and Security. As a judge Hope was known for his legal positivism and as a royal commissioner he "instilled a sense of impartiality". Career Justice Hope received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney before being raised to the New South Wales Bar on 26 October 1945. During his time at university had at attempted to join the Communist Party of Australia but due to "administrative incompetence" it had failed. By his own admission in 1998 the 1960s had brought Hope considerable professional success owing to his strategic decision to join the Liberal Party of Australia. Robert Culbertson Hope (12 May 1812 – 24 June 1878) was a medical practitioner and member of the Victorian Legislative Council. Life and work Hope was born in Morebattle, Roxburghshire, Scotland, the son of Robert Hope, a landowner, and his wife Joan, ''née'' Culbertson. Travelling as ship's surgeon on , Hope emigrated to Australia, arriving in Sydney Sydney ( ) is the capital city of the state of New South Wales, and the most populous city in both Australia and Oceania. Located on Australia's east coast, the metropolis surrounds Sydney Harbour and extends about towards the Blue Mountain ... in August 1838. In November 1856, Hope was elected to represent South Western Province in the Legislative Council of Victoria. Robert Hope-Jones
Robert Hope-Jones (9 February 1859 – 13 September 1914) was an English musician who is considered to be the inventor of the theatre organ in the early 20th century. He thought that a pipe organ should be able to imitate the instruments of an orchestra, and that the console should be detachable from the organ. Early life Jones was born in Hooton, Cheshire, one of nine children of William and Agnes Hope-Jones. His younger brother was the horologist Frank Hope-Jones. He started learning the organ at an early age, and by the age of nine, he was playing for occasional services at St Mary's Church, Eastham. When fifteen he became voluntary organist and choir-master to the Birkenhead School Chapel. Two or three years later he simultaneously held a similar office at St Luke's Church, Tranmere, where he trained a boy choir that became widely celebrated. Bobby Hope
Robert Hope (28 September 1943 – 10 June 2022) was a Scottish footballer who made more than 400 appearances as a midfielder in the Football League. He spent most of his club career at West Bromwich Albion, where he played more than 300 league games and helped the club win two major trophies. He won seven caps for Scotland. Career Born in Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire, Hope played for West Bromwich Albion between 1959 and 1972, when they were a Football League First Division side. A cultured, scheming inside-forward, he was the general in the team's midfield throughout the 1960s. Together with Clive Clark on the wing, Hope provided the ammunition for players like Tony Brown and Jeff Astle. Rob Hope (runner)
Robert Hope (born 3 June 1974) is an English runner who has been a national fell running champion several times and who has represented his country at the World Mountain Running Trophy. Hope had some success in fell running as a junior athlete, being the English champion in the under-20 age group in 1994. The next year, he won his local race, Rivington Pike, where he went on to be victorious several more times in later years. He was runner-up to Ian Holmes in the 2002 English Fell Running Championships and had a noteworthy set of victories at Burnsall, Grasmere and Kilnsey that year, winning all three races within four days. He was joint winner (with Simon Bailey) in the English Championships in 2005 due in part to his triumph in the last race of the series at the Langdale Horseshoe immediately after returning from the World Mountain Running Trophy in New Zealand.
