Robert Herndon
Robert Conrad Dixon Herndon Jr. (born July 16, 1993) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The GlobalPort Batang Pier selected him as the sixth overall pick in the 2017 PBA draft. High school career Herndon was a three-year varsity player. In his senior year, he scored 17 points in the third quarter to lead his team to a win over Arcata. He then had a game-winning layup against Sacred Heart Prep. He averaged 20.2 points,11.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals that year. His head coach, Derek Walker called him "the best basketball player to come through St. Patrick's". The small forward (SF), also known as the three or swingman, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. Small forwards are typically shorter, quicker, and leaner than power forwards and centers but taller, larger, and stronger than either of the guard positions. The JRU Heavy Bombers basketball program represents José Rizal University (JRU) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). The JRU Heavy Bombers are the varsity teams with the longest continuous membership in the NCAA, having been a member since 1927 without interruption, and have the longest championship drought. The EAC Generals basketball program represents Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup
The 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup is the first conference of the 2017 PBA Developmental League season. The tournament opened on January 19, 2017 at the Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig. There are 10 teams in this season's Aspirant's Cup, 4 are holdovers from last year's Foundation Cup, 2 returnees after a short hiatus, and 3 new squads. 5 of the teams were represented by players from various colleges and universities. Draft The annual draft of the PBA D-League will be conducted on December 20, 2016. 128 aspirants—113 local players and 15 Filipino-foreigners—had already submitted their intention to participate in the draft. The PBA Developmental League, or PBA D-League, is the Philippine Basketball Association's official minor league basketball organization. History The PBA D-League was conceptualized after the collapse of the proposed merger between the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) and Liga Pilipinas after the staging of the ''Tournament of the Philippines'' which was composed by PBL and Liga Pilipinas teams. PBA Commissioner Chito Salud proposed the formation of a PBA D-League, which will fill the void left by the PBL. On January 25, 2011, the PBA Board of Governors approved the proposal. Willie Miller (basketball)
Willie V. Miller Jr. (born July 13, 1977) is a Filipino former professional basketball player. He last played for the Pilipinas MX3 Kings of the ASEAN Basketball League. He has started at the point guard position mostly but could also play the shooting guard spot. Miller has won four PBA championships and two PBA Most Valuable Player Awards. Miller played college basketball for Letran, where he was highly promoted in the national media as a future PBA superstar. After graduating, he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2001 PBA draft by the Thunder. Miller led them to two PBA championships before he got traded to the Alaska Aces where he also won one. He also won one championship with Talk N' Text.
