Robert Harris (painter)
Robert Harris (September 18, 1849 – February 27, 1919) was a Welsh-born Canadian painter, most noted for his portrait of the Fathers of Confederation. Early life Born in Caerhun, Conwy, Wales, Robert Harris grew up on his father’s farm before moving to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 1856. Encouraged by his mother, he developed an interest in art, and to practice drawing he often sketched images from magazines. In 1867, he travelled to Liverpool, where he independently studied and sketched from the plaster casts in the local museum, learning human anatomy and proportion. Already skilled in portraiture, and receiving commissions, he decided to pursue formal instruction in 1873 in Boston at the Lowell Institute, in London at the Slade School of Art with Alphonse Legros (1877) and at the Heatherly School of Fine Art (1877), and, finally in Paris with Léon Bonnat at the Atelier Bonnat later that same year. Robert Wayne Harris
Robert Wayne Harris (February 28, 1972 – September 20, 2012) was an American mass murderer and serial killer who killed six people in Texas. In 1999, Harris abducted and killed a woman who he suspected of stealing money from him. The following year, he went on a shooting rampage at his former workplace, a car wash, killing five people. Harris had been fired a few days earlier, after he exposed himself to a customer. He was convicted of capital murder for the car wash shooting, sentenced to death, and executed in 2012. Early life When Harris was 8 years old, he watched his father kill his mother and then commit suicide. He was then "bounced around among relatives," developed a stutter, and placed in special education classes. Harris was bullied in school and dropped out in 9th grade. Robert Alton Harris
Robert Alton Harris (January 15, 1953 – April 21, 1992) was an American car thief, burglar, kidnapper and murderer who was executed at San Quentin State Prison in 1992 for the 1978 murders of two teenage boys in San Diego. His execution was the first in the state of California since 1967. Harris was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and was abused as a child. He had run-ins with police as early as age 10, and was first placed into juvenile detention at age 13 for stealing a car. His mother abandoned him at age 14 and he was soon after placed into juvenile detention after stealing another car. Following his release he found work, married, and had a son. In 1975 he was imprisoned for manslaughter and paroled in January 1978. Robert Harris (July 29, 1830 – April 21, 1894) was a civil engineer and railroad executive who became president of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad and Northern Pacific Railway. Life Robert Harris was born on July 29, 1830, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. His father was educator William Coffin Harris (born 1767) and mother was Mary Johnson. His brother Charles Coffin Harris (1822–1881) became the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Hawaii. He studied civil engineering in Boston, and briefly studied law like his older brother. Robert Harris (December 17, 1966 – December 14, 1995) was an American skysurfing champion. He was the skysurfing world champion of 1994 and 1995. In December 1995, while shooting the Mountain Dew "007" commercial, based on the titular fictional character, directed by David Kellogg and lensed by Janusz Kamiński, Harris was flying in the sky when his parachute failed to open, causing him to fall to his death. Robert Harris (born September 26, 1963 in Halifax, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian curler. Harris played second for Mark Dacey's men's team from 2002 to 2007 and from 1998 to 1999. Harris also played Mixed with Dacey around this time. Harris, Dacey, third Heather Smith-Dacey and lead Laine Peters won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championships in 2002 after having gone to the tournament the two previous years. Playing for Dacey's men's team which included Bruce Lohnes at third and Andrew Gibson at lead, Harris won three provincial championships (2003, 2004, 2006), a Brier in 2004 and a bronze medal at the World Curling Championships the same year. Harris along with Dacey, Lohnes and Gibson also participated in two Continental Cups, in 2004 and 2005. They were on the losing side in 2004, but won the event as part of team North America in 2005. Robert J. Harris (born c. 1957) is an English former football referee who operated in the Football League and Premier League. He was for a time regarded as one of the best linesman on the Premier League, before his promotion to first the Football League and then the Premier League referees lists. But his Premier League referee period did not go well as he was the recipient of criticism for some very high-profile contentious incidents at Arsenal, West Ham and Tranmere which without doubt disrupted his time on the referees list. Robert Harris (born 28 August 1987) is a Scottish footballer who plays at semi-professional level as a left back. Born in Glasgow, Harris started his career senior at Clyde. At Queen of the South he made over 100 first team appearances, including in the 2008 Scottish Cup Final, and scored in the UEFA Cup. He next moved to England playing for Blackpool and on loan at Rotherham United. He then joined Sheffield United, featuring in FA Cup and Football League Cup semi-finals as well as a divisional play-off semi final.
