Sir Robert Harley (baptised 1 March 1579 – 6 November 1656) was an England, English statesman who served as Master of the Mint for Charles I of England, Charles I. A devout Puritan, he supported Parliament of England, Parliament in the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Life He was the son of Thomas Harley of Brampton Bryan Castle in Herefordshire and his wife Margaret, daughter of Sir Andrew Corbet (died 1578), Andrew Corbet. He entered Oriel College, Oxford in 1595, earning a BA in 1599. He entered Middle Temple in 1599. He was invested as a Knight of the Bath on 25 July 1603. After his first marriage in 1603, he served in various local offices in Herefordshire and Radnorshire, including representing Radnor (UK Parliament constituency), Radnor in Parliament of England, Parliament in 1604, Herefordshire (UK Parliament constituency), Herefordshire in 1624 and 1626 and Evesham (UK Parliament constituency), Evesham in 1628. Sir Robert Harley FRS (6 April 1626 – 6 November 1673) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1647 to 1648 and in 1660. Early life and family Harley was the son of Sir Robert Harley and his third wife Brilliana, the daughter of Edward Conway, 1st Viscount Conway. He was educated privately under Mr Simons. During the English Civil War, he served in the Parliamentary Army from 1643 to 1647. He was appointed Steward of the King's Manors or lordship of Cantref Moelynaidd, and of the boroughs of Knighton and Presteign, Radnorshire. Harley married Edith Hinton, widow of Thomas Hinton of Hayton, Shropshire and daughter of Thomas Pembrugge of Wellington. He was the brother of Sir Edward Harley. Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford and Earl Mortimer, KG PC FRS (5 December 1661 – 21 May 1724) was an English statesman and peer of the late Stuart and early Georgian periods. He began his career as a Whig, before defecting to a new Tory ministry. He was raised to the peerage of Great Britain as an earl in 1711. Between 1711 and 1714 he served as Lord High Treasurer, effectively Queen Anne's chief minister. He has been called a ''prime minister'', although it is generally accepted that the de facto first minister to be a prime minister was Robert Walpole in 1721. The central achievement of Harley's government was the negotiation of the Treaty of Utrecht with France in 1713, which brought an end to twelve years of English and Scottish involvement in the War of the Spanish Succession. In 1714 Harley fell from favour following the accession of the first monarch of the House of Hanover, George I, and was for a time imprisoned in the Tower of London by his political enemies. ...

Colonel Sir Robert William Harley (1829 – 23 August 1892) was a British colonial administrator. He served as governor-in-chief of the Gold Coast, between September 1872 and 2 October 1873. Harley was born in 1829 and joined the Army in 1847. Robert Harley (mathematician)
Robert Harley (23 January 1828 – 26 July 1910) was an English Congregational minister and mathematician. Life Born in Liverpool on 23 January 1828, he was third son of Robert Harley by his wife Mary, daughter of William Stevenson, and niece of General Stevenson of Ayr.. The father, after a career as a merchant, became a minister of the Wesleyan Methodist Association. Harley's mathematical aptitude developed at school in Blackburn under William Hoole, and age 16 he was appointed to a mathematical mastership at Seacombe, near Liverpool, returning later to teach at Blackburn. In 1854 Harley entered the Congregational ministry, and was at Brighouse, Yorkshire, until 1868, after a time also filling the chair of mathematics and logic at Airedale College from 1864 to 1868. Bob Harley
Robert Walkinshaw Harley (born 8 September 1888 in Renfrew, Scotland - died in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1958) was a Canadian soccer player in the 1920s. Harley earned his 7 Canadian national soccer team caps in captaining the side to a 2 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws record in their 1924 tour of Australia and New Zealand in games against those countries' national sides. Raised in Scotland, and in Rangers F.C.'s youth program for a time, Harley immigrated to Canada in 1911, settling to Winnipeg. He captained amateur club soccer for United Weston, although he was not with the club when they won the Canadian Club Championships in 1924 and '26. Harley was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
