Robert Hammond (field Hockey)
Robert Hammond (born 1981) is an Australian field hockey player from Queensland. He has played hockey on the state level. He has been a consistent member of the Australia men's national field hockey team. He was with the team when they won a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He is competing for a spot on the team to represent the country at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was also a member of the team that won a gold medal at the 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. Cairns, Queensland
Cairns (, ) is a city in Queensland, Australia, on the tropical north east coast of Far North Queensland. Ric Charlesworth
Richard Ian Charlesworth AO (born 6 February 1952) is an Australian sports coach and former politician. He played first-class cricket for Western Australia and international field hockey for the Kookaburras (the Australian national team), winning a silver medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Charlesworth served as a federal member of parliament from 1983 to 1993, representing the Labor Party. After leaving politics, he was appointed coach of the Hockeyroos (the national women's field hockey team), leading them to Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2000. Charlesworth later coached the Kookaburras from 2009 to 2014, and has also worked in consulting roles with the New Zealand national cricket team, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the Fremantle Football Club (an Australian football team). Kiel Brown
Kiel Brown (born May 1984) is an Australian field hockey player. He earned a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy. Personal Brown was born in May 1984 in Toowoomba, Queensland. He is from Western Australia. He is currently a university student, at Curtin University where he is studying psychology. In 2008, Brown gave a Melbourne-based reporter a tour of the 2008 Summer Olympics athlete quarters. He and his teammates brought blow up toys to the games, including blow up boxing kangaroos and crocodiles. He and his teammates also set up a slushy machine in their area of the athlete village. The Australia men's national field hockey team (nicknamed the Kookaburras) is one of the nation's most successful top-level sporting teams. They are the only Australian team in any sport to receive medals at six straight Summer Olympic Games (1992–2012).
