Robert Hamilton (December 9, 1809 – March 14, 1878) was an American lawyer, bank president and Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party politician who represented in the United States House of Representatives from 1873 to 1877. Early life and career Born in Hamburg, New Jersey, Hamilton attended common schools as a child. He moved Newton, New Jersey, in 1831, studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1836, commencing practice in Newton. He was prosecutor of plea for Sussex County, New Jersey, from 1848 to 1858, 1868 and 1869, was a delegate to the 1860 Democratic National Convention, was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly in 1863 and 1864, serving as Speaker (politics), Speaker of the House, and was president of Merchant’s National Bank from 1865 to 1878. Robert Hamilton (moderator, Died 1581)
Robert Hamilton (c.1530–1581) was a Church of Scotland minister who served as Moderator of the General Assembly in 1572 and was Principal of New College in St Andrews. Life Little is known of his early life. He was probably born around 1530 in eastern central Scotland. He is first mentioned in the first General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in December 1560 where he is minuted as being "maist (most) qualified for ministering and teaching". From at least 1560 he was a Regent of New College in St Andrews (now known as St Mary's College, St Andrews) which means this is certainly where he studied. As a Regent he would lecture in Divinity to the younger students. From around 1570 he was Principal of the College. At some time between November 1565 and September 1566 he became minister of St Andrews Parish Church, in place of Christopher Goodman. Robert Hamilton (Norwegian Governor)
Robert Thomas Hamilton (died 1677) was a military officer who served in Denmark and Norway. He served as the first County Governor of Lister og Mandal county from 1671 until around 1675. Robert Hamilton was born in Scotland. He began as an officer for army for the Kingdom of Denmark-Norway in 1657, serving in the cavalry. This was during a time of an alliance between the House of Stuart who ruled in Britain and the House of Oldenburg who ruled in Denmark-Norway. He was promoted to captain in Norway in 1658 and became a colonel watchmaster in 1660. Hamilton's promotion continued and he made lieutenant colonel in 1661 due to a commendation by King Charles II. He was also named a Knight of the Elephant the same year. In 1668, King Frederik III of Denmark-Norway ordered the Governor-general of Norway to pay 2000 rigsdaler of the army's money to Hamilton in advance of his wages. Charles Robert Hamilton Sr. (May 29, 1957 – January 7, 2007) was an American stock car racing driver. A driver and owner in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series circuit and the winner of the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship, Hamilton owned Bobby Hamilton Racing. Hamilton's son, Bobby Hamilton Jr., is also a NASCAR driver. Hamilton may be best remembered for two of his Winston Cup Series wins. Robert Alexander "Bones" Hamilton (September 8, 1912 – April 1, 1996) was an American gridiron football player, best known for playing college football for Stanford University. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972. Biography Hamilton was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, and attended Sewickley High School. He then enrolled at Kiski Prep in the fall of 1930, and arrived at Stanford University in the fall of 1932, along with Kiski classmate Jim "Monk" Moscrip.
