Robert H. Winner Memorial Award
The Poetry Society of America's Robert H. Winner Memorial Award is given "by the family and friends of Robert H. Winner, whose first book of poems appeared when he was almost fifty years old. Poetry Society Of America
The Poetry Society of America is a literary organization founded in 1910 by poets, editors, and artists. It is the oldest poetry organization in the United States. Past members of the society have included such renowned poets as Witter Bynner, Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Marianne Moore, and Wallace Stevens. History In 1910, the Poetry Society of America held its first official meeting in the National Arts Club in Manhattan, which is still home to the organization today. Rusty Morrison
Rusty Morrison (born July 12, 1956) is an American poet and publisher. She received a BA in English from Mills College in Oakland, California, an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga, California, and an MA in Education from California State University, San Francisco. She has taught in the MFA program at the University of San Francisco and was Poet in Residence at Saint Mary’s College in 2009. She has also served as a visiting poet at a number of colleges and universities, including the University of Redlands, the University of Arizona, Boise State University, Marylhurst University, and Millikin University. In 2001, Morrison and her husband, Ken Keegan, founded Omnidawn Publishing in Richmond, California, and continue to work as co-publishers. Linda Gregg
Linda Alouise Gregg (September 9, 1942 – March 20, 2019) was an American poet. Biography She was born in Suffern, New York. Ms. Gregg grew up on the other side of the country, in Marin County, California. She received both her Bachelor of Arts, in 1967, and her Master of Arts, in 1972, from San Francisco State College. Her first book of poems, ''Too Bright to See'', was published in 1981. She was in a long relationship with poet Jack Gilbert, and later married writer, political activist, and philosophy professor John Brentlinger. The couple divorced in 1990. John McKernan
John Rettie "Jock" McKernan Jr. (born May 20, 1948) is an American politician who served two terms as the 71st Governor of Maine, from 1987 to 1995. Born in Bangor, Maine, McKernan attended Dartmouth College and then the University of Maine School of Law. A Republican, McKernan was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives before becoming governor. He also served in the state house from 1973 to 1977 and was a delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 1976 and 1984. Eleanor Wilner
Eleanor Rand Wilner (born 1937) is an American poet and editing, editor. Life Wilner obtained her bachelor's from Goucher College and her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. Her graduate dissertation concerned the topic of imagination and was later published as ''Gathering the Winds: Visionary Imagination and Radical Transformation of Self and Society'' (1975). She was editor of ''The American Poetry Review'' and she is Advisory Editor of ''Calyx''. She has taught at the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Smith College.
