Robert Green "Bobby" Brooks (born August 19, 1957 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American record producer and audio engineer. He is given credit for his signature R&B sound as well as shaping Motown's hits. Naked To The World
''Naked to the World'' is the eighth album by Teena Marie, released on March 21, 1988. It is a return to her soul/ funk roots following the experimentation of her previous album ''Emerald City'', which had been a critical and commercial disappointment. ''Naked to the World'' peaked at #15 on the Black Albums chart and #65 on the Billboard Albums chart. The lead single, " Ooo La La La", was #1 on the US Black Singles chart, Marie's only single to achieve this status. "Work It" peaked at #10 on the US Black Singles chart, followed by the non-charting "Surrealistic Pillow". The tracks "Call Me (I Got Yo Number)" and "The Once and Future Dream" reunited Teena with former mentor and duet partner Rick James. The album also included Marie's first collaboration with Klymaxx star Bernadette Cooper on the track "Crocodile Tears". Patrice Rushen
Patrice Louise Rushen (born September 30, 1954) is an American jazz pianist and R&B singer. She is also a composer, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and music director. Her 1982 single "Forget Me Nots" received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. The instrumental "Number One" from her album '' Straight from the Heart'' earned an additional Grammy nomination for best instrumental. Her 12th album ''Signature'' also received a Grammy nomination for best instrumental in 1998. Rushen also serves as an ambassador for artistry in education at the Berklee College of Music and the chair of the popular music program at the USC Thornton School of Music. Teena Marie
Mary Christine Brockert (March 5, 1956 – December 26, 2010), known professionally as Teena Marie, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, composer, arranger, and producer. She was known by her childhood nickname Tina before taking the stage name Teena Marie and later acquired the nickname Lady T, given to her by her collaborator and friend, Rick James. She was known for her distinctive soprano vocals, which caused many listeners to believe she was black. ''Starchild'' is the sixth studio album by American R&B singer Teena Marie, released on November 11, 1984 by Epic Records. Following the relative commercial failure of her previous album, ''Robbery'', ''Starchild'' became the highest-selling album of Marie's career. It peaked at #9 on the US Black Albums chart and #31 on the Billboard Albums chart. It was certified Gold by the RIAA on April 1, 1985. The album's success was driven by lead single "Lovergirl" which become a major US hit, reaching #4 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and her only top 30 hit on that chart. Third World (band)
Third World is a Jamaican reggae fusion band formed in 1973. Their sound is influenced by soul, funk and disco. Although it has undergone several line-up changes, Stephen "Cat" Coore and Richard Daley have been constant members. History Third World started when keyboard player Michael "Ibo" Cooper and guitarist (and cellist) Stephen "Cat" Coore (son of former Deputy Prime Minister David Coore), who had originally played in The Alley Cats and then Inner Circle, subsequently left to form their own band along with Inner Circle singer Milton "Prilly" Hamilton. ''Reunion'' is a 1982 album by The Temptations for Gordy Records. The album was released during the 1982 Temptations ''Reunion'' tour, which reunited David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks with the Temptations after a decade-long absence. The album also features then-current Temptations Dennis Edwards, Glenn Leonard, Richard Street, and founding members Otis Williams and Melvin Franklin. DeBarge
DeBarge was an American musical recording group composed of several members of the DeBarge family. In addition to various solo projects completed by members of the family, DeBarge was active between 1979 and 1989. The group originally consisted of El DeBarge, El, Mark DeBarge, Mark, Randy DeBarge, Randy, and Bunny DeBarge, Bunny. James DeBarge, James joined the group a year later for their second album. Bobby DeBarge, Bobby and Chico DeBarge, Chico joined in 1987 and 1988 respectively, replacing Bunny and El. DeBarge released six studio albums, four of them with Motown subsidiary Gordy Records. ''All This Love'' is the second studio album by DeBarge, released by Gordy Records on July 22, 1982.
