Robert Dunsmure
Robert Dunsmure (23 December 1852 - 4 August 1894) was a pastoralist and politician in colonial Queensland. He was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1888 to 1893, representing the electorate of Maranoa. Early life Robert Dunsmure was born on 23 December 1852 in Edinburgh, the fourth son of Dr James Dunsmure and his wife Catherine (née Hill). They lived at 39 North Castle Street in the New Town. This prestigious Georgian house was the former home of Sir Walter Scott. He was educated at the Edinburgh Academy. Pastoralist Dunsmure came to Australia in 1866, where he gained colonial experience on H. C. Douglas's property, Bringenbrong, in the Upper Murray District in New South Wales. In 1874, he formed a partnership with Mr Douglas and Mr Menzies and bought Eurella Station from Thomas McIlwraith and Mr Robinson. Dunsmure was the manager of the property for the rest of his life. Thomas McIlwraith
Sir Thomas McIlwraith (17 May 1835 – 17 July 1900) was for many years the dominant figure of colonial politics in Queensland. He was Premier of Queensland from 1879 to 1883, again in 1888, and for a third time in 1893. In common with most politicians of his era, McIlwraith was an influential businessman, who combined his parliamentary career with a prosperous involvement in the pastoral industry. Early life Thomas McIlwraith was born in Ayr, Scotland, in 1835, one of four sons of John McIlwraith, plumber and shipowner, and his wife Janet Hamilton ''née'' Howat. Dean Cemetery
The Dean Cemetery is a historically important Victorian cemetery north of the Dean Village, west of Edinburgh city centre, in Scotland. It lies between Queensferry Road and the Water of Leith, bounded on its east side by Dean Path and on its west by the Dean Gallery. A 20th-century extension lies detached from the main cemetery to the north of Ravelston Terrace. The main cemetery is accessible through the main gate on its east side, through a "grace and favour" access door from the grounds of Dean Gallery and from Ravelston Terrace. ''The Queenslander'' was the weekly summary and literary edition of the '' Brisbane Courier'', the leading journal in the colony—and later, federal state—of Queensland since the 1850s. ''The Queenslander'' was launched by the Brisbane Newspaper Company in 1866, and discontinued in 1939. History ''The Queenslander'' was first published on 3 February 1866 in Brisbane by Thomas Blacket Stephens. The last edition was printed on 22 February 1939.
