Robert Dowdell
Robert Dowdell (March 10, 1932 – January 23, 2018) was an American actor, best known for his role as Lieutenant Commander Chip Morton in the television series '' Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea''. Biography Dowdell was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and later graduated Parker High School. He attended Wesleyan University and the University of Chicago, before enlisting in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. After discharging from the service, Dowdell took an interest in acting. It was suggested that he take lessons with Wynn Handman. He was cast in a play written by Leslie Stevens, who went on to create the Western television series '' Stoney Burke'' and encouraged him to audition. Dowdell was cast in the recurring role of Cody Bristol. Following ''Stoney Burke'', Dowdell was cast in ''Voyage'', which aired from 1964 to 1968. Park Ridge is a city in Cook County, Illinois, United States, and a Chicago suburb. Per the 2020 census, the population was 39,656. It is located northwest of downtown Chicago. It is close to O'Hare International Airport, major expressways, and rail transportation. It is a part of the Chicago metropolitan area, bordering three official neighborhoods on Chicago's Far Northwest Side ( Edison Park, Norwood Park, and O'Hare.) The soil is abundant with clay deposits, which made it a brick-making center for the developing city of Chicago. ''The Initiation'' is a 1984 American slasher film directed by Larry Stewart, and starring Daphne Zuniga, Vera Miles, Clu Gulager, and James Read. The plot focuses on a young woman plagued by a disturbing recurring nightmare, who finds herself and her fellow sorority pledges stalked by a killer during their initiation ritual in a department store after-hours. Filmed in Dallas, Texas in 1983, ''The Initiation'' initially had English director Peter Crane attached, though he was fired from the project early into the shoot, after which television director Stewart took over. The Dallas Market Center and Southern Methodist University served as the primary shooting locations. ''Terror in the Sky'' is a 1971 television film remake of 1957's ''Zero Hour!'', which itself was based on the 1956 television play ''Flight into Danger''. Arthur Hailey recycled the premise in his book ''Runway Zero-Eight'' which was co-written with John Castle in 1958. The film stars Doug McClure, Lois Nettleton, Roddy McDowall, Leif Erickson, Kenneth Tobey, and Keenan Wynn. Plot Passengers on a plane headed from the Midwest to the West Coast (Winnipeg to Vancouver in the book; Minneapolis to Seattle in the film) get quite ill after eating the chicken pot pie entree. Both pilots also eat the chicken. ''City Beneath the Sea'' is a 1971 adventure science fiction television film and television pilot for a proposed series by Irwin Allen starring Stuart Whitman and Robert Colbert.
