Robert Dienst
Robert Dienst (1 March 1928 – 13 June 2000) was an Austrian football forward. He died in 2000 after a long illness. Club career Robert Dienst started his career at Floridsdorfer AC, where he played his first game as a midfielder during World War II. He turned into a prolific striker at Rapid Wien and became one of the most successful Austrian goalscorers in the 1950s, three times topping the top goalscorers charts and winning six league titles. With his 307 Bundesliga goals, he is still Rapid's record league goalscorer. He scored 323 goals in 351 games in total in the Austrian Football Bundesliga. International career He made his debut for Austria in an October 1949 match against Hungary and earned a total of 27 caps, scoring 12 goals. He was a participant at the 1954 FIFA World Cup and 1958 FIFA World Cup. Sportklub Rapid Wien (), commonly known as Rapid Vienna, is an Austrian football club playing in the country's capital city of Vienna. Rapid has won the most Austrian championship titles (32), including the first title in the season 1911–12, as well as a German championship in 1941 during Nazi rule. Rapid twice reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985 and 1996, losing on both occasions. Mitropa Cup
The Mitropa Cup, officially called the La Coupe de l'Europe Centrale or Central European Cup, was one of the first international major European football cups for club sides. It was conducted among the successor states of the former Austria-Hungary. After World War II in 1951 a replacement tournament named ''Zentropa Cup'' was held, but just for one season, the Mitropa Cup name was revived, and again in 1958 the name of the tournament changed to ''Danube Cup'' but only for one season. The tournament was discontinued after 1992. The most successful club is Vasas with six titles. History A first "International" competition for football clubs was founded in 1897 in Vienna. The Austrian Cup (german: ÖFB-Cup), known as UNIQA ÖFB Cup for sponsorship purposes, is an annual football competition held by the Austrian Football Association, the ÖFB. During the 2008–09 season, Austria Wien won the tournament for 27th time, a record. Red Bull Salzburg are the current holders, winning the 2021-2022 tournament, making it their 8th successive win in the tournament and their 9th overall. History It has been held since 1918–19, with the exception of the time of the Anschluss between 1939 and 1945 and the period between 1950 and 1958 when the competition was deemed of little interest.
