Robert Dennison (United States Navy Officer)
Admiral Robert Lee Dennison (April 13, 1901 – March 14, 1980) was an American naval officer and aide to President Harry Truman. Early life Dennison was born in Warren, Pennsylvania, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1923. He later received a doctorate in engineering from Johns Hopkins University. Naval career Dennison held numerous commands in the United States Navy, including submarines, destroyers, and the . Truman twice sailed on the ''Missouri'' while Dennison commanded it. He was a naval aide to Harry Truman from 1948 to 1953. Arleigh Burke, a former classmate of Dennison's who would one day become Chief of Naval Operations, found his career on the brink of ruin, following the Revolt of the Admirals. Robert Dennison (14 December 1879 – 10 November 1951) was a British Labour Party politician. Born in Glasgow, Dennison attended a Science School in the city. In 1912, he was elected to Stockton-on-Tees Town Council, for the Labour Party, serving until 1917. Also in 1912, he began working full-time for a trade union, a predecessor of the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation. Robert Denniston (October 15, 1800, in Blooming Grove, Orange County, New York – December 2, 1867, in Salisbury Mills,Salisbury Mills is a hamlet that lies partly in the towns of Blooming Grove and Cornwall. He died at the same place where he was born, in that part of the hamlet of Salisbury Mills which lies within the Town of Blooming Grove. Robert Dennison (born 30 April 1963) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer who spent the majority of his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Career West Bromwich Albion spotted Dennison at Irish club Glenavon and signed him on a two-year deal in September 1985. However, he failed to establish himself in the starting line-up and signed for rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers for £20,000 in March 1987. He made his debut for the club on 14 March 1987 in a 4–0 win over Swansea City. Here, the winger found his feet and was a first choice player as the team won back to back promotions from the (old) Division 4. Robert Dennison (6 October 1900 – 24 June 1973) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward in the Football League for Norwich City, Brighton & Hove Albion, Manchester City, Clapton Orient and Chesterfield. Life and career Dennison was born in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, in 1900. He began his football career with his local club, Arnold St Mary's, before signing for Norwich City in 1920 ahead of their first season in the newly formed Football League Third Division. He made his debut on 11 September, in a 1–0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, and went on to score 34 goals from 117 league appearances over four seasons. In 1924, he moved on to another third-tier club, Brighton & Hove Albion. He scored 13 goals in his first 19 appearances in all competitions, but then lost form and lost his place to new signing Sam Jennings.
