Robert D. Drain
Robert D. Drain (born ) is a United States bankruptcy judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York who has presided at several high-profile corporate bankruptcies. Early life Drain received a B.A. degree cum laude with honors in 1979 from Yale University and J.D. in 1984 from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for three years. He was a partner in the bankruptcy department of the New York firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison when he was appointed to be judge in 2002. He was also an adjunct professor of law at St. John's University School of Law's LLM in Bankruptcy Program for several years and is an adjunct professor at the Pace University School of Law. Purdue Pharma
Purdue Pharma L.P., formerly the Purdue Frederick Company, is an American privately held pharmaceutical company founded by John Purdue Gray. It was owned principally by members of the Sackler family as descendants of Mortimer and Raymond Sackler. In 2007, it paid out one of the largest fines ever levied against a pharmaceutical firm for misleading the public about how addictive the drug OxyContin was compared to other pain medications. In September 2021 Purdue Pharma announced that it rebrand itself as Knoa Pharma. Although the company shifted its focus to abuse-deterrent formulations, Purdue continued to market and sell opioids as late as 2019 and continued to be involved in lawsuits around the opioid epidemic in the United States. Purdue filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on September 15, 2019, in New York City. Yukos
OJSC "Yukos Oil Company" (russian: ОАО Нефтяна́я Компа́ния Ю́КОС, links=no, ) was an oil and gas company based in Moscow, Russia. Yukos was acquired from the Russian government by Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky's Bank Menatep during the controversial "loans for shares" auctions of the mid 1990s. Between 1996 and 2003, Yukos became one of the biggest and most successful Russian companies, producing 20% of Russia's oil output. In the 2004 ''Fortune 500'', Yukos was ranked as the 359th largest company in the world.
