Robert William Cole
Robert William Cole (6 April 1869 - 12 November 1937) was born in Heston, Middlesex and studied law at Balliol, Oxford, intending to become a barrister, but instead worked as a professional photographer and author. Some of his works are early science fiction and future war fiction. His writing is most notable for an early description of war in space, but had little influence on the history of science fiction because it was published by small presses and received little public attention. He died in Dawlish in Devon, aged 68. Cole's works are mostly out of print and are difficult to find. Copies can be found at the British Library, and two have been republished in scholarly editions. Bob Cole (composer)
Robert Allen Cole Jr. (July 1, 1868 – August 2, 1911) was an American composer, actor, playwright, and stage producer and director. In collaboration with Billy Johnson, he wrote and produced ''A Trip to Coontown'' (1898), the first musical entirely created and owned by black showmen. The popular song ''La Hoola Boola'' (1898) was also a result of their collaboration. Cole later partnered with brothers J. Rosamond Johnson, pianist and singer, and James Weldon Johnson, pianist, guitarist and lawyer, creating more than 200 songs. Their vaudeville act featured classical piano pieces and their musicals featured sophisticated lyrics without the usual stereotypes such as "hot-mamas" and watermelons. Success enabled Cole and Rosamond to tour America and Europe with their act. The trio's most popular songs were " Louisiana Lize" and "Under the Bamboo Tree" (1901?). Bobby Cole (September 8, 1932 – December 19, 1996) was an American musician, known for his jazz singing and piano playing. He was also a jazz composer and arranger. He worked as a musical arranger for ''The Judy Garland Show'' hosted by Judy Garland, succeeding Mel Tormé. He conducted the orchestra for her 1967 "Palace" concerts and album and was the conductor and musical director on her last tour. Biography and Career Bobby Cole was born Robert Kane Sarnicole in New York City and grew up in Astoria, Queens. After service in the US Army, he returned to New York to begin his career. Robert Cole (born 27 November 1938) is a former English cricketer. Cole was a right-handed batsman who fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born in Ferryhill Station, County Durham. Cole made his debut for Durham against the Lancashire Second XI in the 1958 Minor Counties Championship. He played Minor counties cricket for Durham from 1958 to 1974, making 118 Minor Counties Championship appearances. He made his List A debut against Hertfordshire in the 1964 Gillette Cup. He made 6 further List A appearances, the last of which came against Essex in the 1973 Gillette Cup. In his 7 List A matches, he scored just a single run. Robert Cecil Cole (born June 24, 1933) is a Canadian former sports television announcer who has worked for CBC and Sportsnet and former competitive curler. He is known primarily for his work on ''Hockey Night in Canada''. Early life A knee injury suffered from playing soccer put Cole in the hospital for approximately six months as a youth. It was during this time that he would listen to Foster Hewitt calling games on the radio and developed an interest in becoming a sports announcer. In 1956, Cole made an impromptu visit to Hewitt's office to present him with an audition tape. To Cole's surprise, Hewitt welcomed him in, listened to his tape, and talked with him for two hours. Robert Eric Cole (born 11 May 1948) is a South African professional golfer. Early life Cole was born in Springs, South Africa. As a child, he was influenced by the careers of Bobby Locke and Gary Player. After suffering a bicycle accident related knee injury, Cole took up golf at the age of eleven. He won both the South Africa junior golf championship and the Vaal Amateur. Amateur career In 1966, Cole won the British Amateur at Carnoustie, Scotland, at age 18, the youngest winner to that stage. Cole held the record as youngest-ever winner of the tournament until Matteo Manassero won the event in 2009, at age 16. Cole also held the record as the youngest player to play in and make the cut at the Masters Tournament, in 1967, at just short of 19 of age, until Manassero, in 2010, again beat his record. He helped develop many chemicals, including freon and its use as a refrigerant and an aerosol repellent, a substance to counteract poisonous gas in World War I, synthetic rubber and pyrethrin insecticides in World War II, and ethylene oxide as a hospital germicide....
