Robert Burns (New Jersey Politician)
Robert J. Burns (March 17, 1926 – March 14, 2016) was an American Democratic Party politician who served two terms in the New Jersey General Assembly from the 38th Legislative District. Biography Burns was born on March 17, 1926, in Jersey City to Helen and John Henry Burns. First attending St. Patrick's School, he later attended Lincoln High School and Henry Snyder High School. During World War II, he served in the United States Army with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment and the 82nd Airborne Division. He graduated from Seton Hall University receiving a B.S. in 1955. He also attended Seton Hall Law School for one year. During the 1960s and 70s, he was a sales representative for the Tube Sales Company in Cranbury however later in life, he was a sales manager at the David Smith Steel Company in South Plainfield and for Industrial Waste Technologies in Oakland. New Jersey's 38th Legislative District
New Jersey's 38th Legislative District is one of 40 districts that make up the map for the New Jersey Legislature. It covers the Bergen County municipalities of Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park, and Saddle Brook and the Passaic County borough of Hawthorne. Demographic information As of the 2020 United States census, the district had a population of 227,451, of whom 179,126 (78.8%) were of voting age. The racial makeup of the district was 135,144 (59.4%) White, 9,698 (4.3%) African American, 640 (0.3%) Native American, 36,122 (15.9%) Asian, 35 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 21,955 (9.7%) from some other race, and 23,857 (10.5%) from two or more races. Cranbury, New Jersey
Cranbury is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. Located within the Raritan Valley region, Cranbury is roughly equidistant between New York City and Philadelphia in the heart of the state. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 3,857, reflecting an increase of 630 (+19.5%) from the 3,227 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 727 (+29.1%) from the 2,500 counted in 1990. Cranbury, along with the municipalities of Bellmawr, Egg Harbor Township, Montclair, and Woodbridge Township, were among the original five municipalities (of 565 in the state) in New Jersey that had authorized dispensaries for the sale of medical cannabis in their municipality. Paul Contillo
Paul J. Contillo (born July 8, 1929) is an American Democratic Party politician who represented the Bergen County-based 38th Legislative District in the New Jersey State Legislature during three separate tenures. Career Contillo served as a Councilman in Paramus, New Jersey from 1971 to 1973. He was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 1973, entering the race after the Democratic nominee, Paramus Councilman Alphonso DeFilippo dropped out of the race after the primary. Riding the Watergate Democratic landslide, Contillo and his running mate, incumbent Assemblyman Edward Hynes defeated Republican Assemblyman Charles Reid and attorney Ralph W.
