Robert Braddy
Robert L. Braddy Sr. (born January 9, 1941) is an American college baseball coach who spent 27 years as the coach for Jackson State University. Career Braddy is from Florence, Mississippi. He attended Jackson State University and played college baseball for the Jackson State Tigers. He became the head coach of the Tigers in 1973. Braddy coached the Tigers to a win–loss record, establishing a new Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) record for wins. Braddy's teams also won 12 SWAC championships and reached the NCAA Division I baseball tournament three times. Braddy stepped down as head coach after the 2000 season, and served as athletic director until 2011. Jackson State named their baseball field Braddy Field in his honor in 2009. Florence is a city in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 4,141. It is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of . The 2010 Census showed a population of 4,141, a 72.8% growth from the 2000 Census. The current city limits have grown northward towards Richland. Florence was the 12th fastest growing city in Mississippi at the 2010 Census. Mississippi Sports Hall Of Fame
The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Jackson, Mississippi. The hall of fame was established in 1961 and is currently located in a museum that displays the achievements of Mississippi athletes. The museum opened on July 4, 1996. It is opposite the Smith-Wills Stadium, former home of several minor-league baseball teams. The National College Baseball Hall of Fame is an institution operated by the College Baseball Foundation serving as the central point for the study of the history of college baseball in the United States.
