Robert Benson Ewbank
Sir Robert Benson Ewbank, Order of the Indian Empire, CSI, Order of the Star of India, CIE (22 October 1883 – 2 September 1967) was an eminent British people, British Colonialism, colonial civil servant in the twentieth century. Educated at Carlisle Grammar School and The Queen's College, Oxford he was Registrar of Co-operative Societies for the Bombay Presidency from 1911 to 1919; Deputy Secretary to the Civil Services of India, Government of India from 1920 to 1924 (and Acting Secretary between 1926 and 1927) ; Civil Services of India, its representative in East Africa from 1927 to 1928; and General Secretary to the Government of Bombay from 1929 to 1934. From 1936 to 1939 he was a Member of the Commission of Government, Commission of Government of Newfoundland in charge of Natural Resources. Order Of The Indian Empire
The Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire is an order of chivalry founded by Queen Victoria on 1 January 1878. The Order includes members of three classes: #Knight Grand Commander (GCIE) #Knight Commander ( KCIE) #Companion ( CIE) No appointments have been made since 1947, the year that British India gained independence as the Union of India and Dominion of Pakistan. With the death of the last surviving knight, the Maharaja Meghrajji III of Dhrangadhra, the order became dormant in 2010. The motto of the Order is ''Imperatricis auspiciis'', (Latin for "Under the auspices of the Empress"), a reference to Queen Victoria, the first Empress of India. The Order is the junior British order of chivalry associated with the British Indian Empire; the senior one is The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India.
