Robert Beal Jr.
Robert Erwin Beal Jr. (born August 18, 1999) is an American professional football defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia. Early years Beal grew up in Duluth, Georgia and initially attended Norcross High School. After his sophomore year, he transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Beal transferred a second time to Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee, Georgia after his junior season, citing a desire to move back to his home. He was originally rated a four-star recruit and initially committed to play college football at Notre Dame as a sophomore before decommitting later in the year and re-opening his recruitment. Beal was re-rated a five-star recruit and ultimately committed to play at Georgia. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. A rivalry is the state of two people or groups engaging in a lasting competitive relationship. Rivalry is the "against each other" spirit between two competing sides. The NCAA transfer portal is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) application, database, and compliance tool launched on October 15, 2018, to manage and facilitate the process for student athletes seeking to transfer between member institutions. The transfer portal permits student athletes to place their name in an online database declaring their desire to transfer. Athletes enter the portal by informing their current school of their desire to transfer; the school then has two business days to enter the athlete's name in the database. Once an athlete's name is entered in the database, coaches and staff from other schools are permitted to make contact with the athlete to inquire about their interest in visiting the campus and accepting a scholarship. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
