The Penn State Nittany Lions team represents the Pennsylvania State University in college football. The 1887 Penn State football team was an American football team that represented Pennsylvania State College—now known as Pennsylvania State University–as an independent during the 1887 college football season. The team went 2–0 and are the school's only unscored-upon team. The quarterback of this team was George H. "Lucy" Linsz. History The rivalry started in 1922, when Syracuse fought Penn State to a 0–0 tie. The Syracuse Orange football team represents Syracuse University in the sport of American football. The Orange compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
