Robert Allison (academic)
Robert John Allison DL (born 4 February 1961) is a British academic. Professor Allison has held senior leadership roles in a number of top UK universities. Currently a Non-Executive Director and Trustee of several organisations, Bob was previously the Vice-Chancellor and President of Loughborough University. Bob was brought up in North Yorkshire and educated at Northallerton Grammar School, before studying at Hull University and gaining a B.A. in 1982. He was awarded a Ph.D. from King’s College London in 1986 and subsequently appointed as the Addison Wheeler Fellow at Durham University, moving to a lectureship at University College London in 1989. In 1992 Bob Allison returned to Durham, becoming Professor of Geography in 1999. He served as Head of the Department of Geography and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Health.
