Robe, Bale (Ethiopia)
Robe, also called as Bale Robe, is a town in south-central Oromia Region, Ethiopia. Located in the Bale Zone, this town has a latitude and longitude of with an elevation of above sea level. It is located about 430 kilometres by road from the capital Addis Ababa. Robe shares Robe Airport (ICAO code HAGB, IATA GOB) with neighboring Goba. Ethiopian Airlines has a scheduled flight four times a week connecting it to the capital Addis Ababa and to the southern city Arba Minch. The main market day is Thursday, with a smaller market working on Tuesdays and Sundays at another place in the town. Madawalabu University
Madda Walabu University, one of the public universities in Ethiopia, was established in 2006. The university is located in Bale Zone, in the town of Robe, about from the capital city, Addis Ababa. Islam In Ethiopia
Islam is the second-largest religion in Ethiopia behind Christianity, with 31.3 to 35.9 percent of the total population of around 113.5 million people professing the religion as of 2022. Islam in Ethiopia dates back to the founding of the religion; in 615, when a group of Muslims were counseled by Muhammad to escape persecution in Mecca and Migration to Abyssinia, travel to Ethiopia via modern-day Eritrea, which was ruled by Najashi, a pious Christian king. Sof Omar Caves
Sof Omar Caves is the longest cave in Ethiopia at long. When surveyed in 1972, it was the longest cave in Africa. Since then explorations in Algeria (Rhar Bou Ma’za - the Tafna River Cave 18.4 km) and Madagascar (Ambatoharanana - Crocodile Cave 18.1 km) have overtaken it. It is situated to the east of Ginnir, in the East Bale Zone of the Oromia Region in southeastern Ethiopia, through which the Weyib River (Gestro River) flows. It sinks at the Ayiew Maco entrance and reappears at the Holuca resurgence away. According to tradition Sof Omar was the name of a Muslim holy man who lived in the area and Ayiew the name of his daughter. Maco and Holuca are local names for 'name' and "cave", respectively. Goba
Goba ( Oromo: ', Amharic: ጎባ) is a town and separate woreda located in the Bale Zone of the Oromia Region, Ethiopia approximately 446 km southeast of Addis Ababa, this city has a latitude and longitude of and an elevation of 2,743 meters above sea level. The town is known for its Wednesday market and for honey, basketry and cotton shawl making; Bale National Park is 10 km to the southwest.
