Rob Clarke (musician)
Rob Clarke is a British singer-songwriter. Described by AltSounds as 'more than just a man and a guitar' he is influenced by a range of genres including folk music, country music and psychedelic rock as well as formative experiences growing up in Liverpool, Nottingham, Huddersfield, Skipton and Aberdeen. Early years Clarke began in music in NE Scotland to which his family had finally moved after various spells in Liverpool, Nottingham, Huddersfield and Skipton, when his father was engaged as the Director of Robert Gordon University. Initially this was 'closing down the old Scottish Highland dance halls' but heading south he later had a London record deal with Blue Train Records whilst living in Muswell Hill and struggling to break into the late 80s music London scene. Muswell Hill
Muswell Hill is a suburban district of the London Borough of Haringey, north London. The hill, which reaches over above sea level, is situated north of Charing Cross. Neighbouring areas include Highgate, Hampstead Garden Suburb, East Finchley and Crouch End. It has many streets with Edwardian architecture. A Flock of Seagulls are an English new wave band formed in Liverpool in 1979. The group, whose best-known line-up comprised Mike Score, Ali Score, Frank Maudsley and Paul Reynolds, hit the peak of their chart success in the early 1980s. The group had a string of international hit singles including "I Ran (So Far Away)" (1982), "Space Age Love Song" (1982), " Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)" (1982), and "The More You Live, the More You Love" (1984). Paul Reynolds (musician)
Paul Reynolds (born 4 August 1962) is an English singer, songwriter and musician who gained worldwide fame as the lead guitarist of the new wave band A Flock of Seagulls. He is highly praised for having a unique guitar sound that differentiated his band from others of the time. Early life Paul Reynolds was born on 4 August 1962 in Liverpool. In his teens, Reynolds always enjoyed playing the guitar, but in his spare time he enjoyed writing, drawing and was also an amateur photographer. Career Paul briefly joined a local Liverpool band called Visual Aids. Robin Lumley
Robin Lumley is a British jazz fusion musician, keyboardist, record producer, and author who was a member of the band Brand X with drummer Phil Collins, guitarist John Goodsall, and bassist Percy Jones. He is a second cousin of the actress Joanna Lumley. Career Lumley started playing drums in a student band at college. The band reached the finals of the ''Melody Maker'' talent contest in the early 1970s, after which he switched to keyboards. He received a degree in Television Studies from Exeter University, then moved to London and did odd jobs while trying to get into the music business. One day he received a phone call from David Bowie, a former neighbour, looking for someone to replace his ill keyboard player. Lumley accepted the job and toured as a member of Bowie's band. Brand X
Brand X were a jazz fusion band formed in London in 1974. They were active until 1980, followed by a reformation between 1992 and 1999, and were active following a 2016 reunion until 2021. Members have included John Goodsall (guitar), Percy Jones (bass), Robin Lumley (keyboards), and Phil Collins (drums). Jones was the sole constant member throughout the band's existence until October 2020 when he left the band. Founding member Goodsall died on 10 November 2021. Peter Joseph Andrew Hammill (born 5 November 1948) is an English musician and recording artist. He was a founder member of the progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. Best known as a singer/songwriter, he also plays guitar and piano and produces his own recordings and occasionally those of other artists. In 2012, he was recognised with the Visionary award at the first Progressive Music Awards. Fischer-Z are a British rock group and main creative project of singer, guitarist and poet John Watts. In 1982 Watts temporarily dissolved Fischer-Z and started a solo career under his own name. John Watts has gone on to release both solo and Fischer-Z projects. The original line-up consisted of Watts (vocals, guitar), Steve Skolnik ( keyboards), David Graham ( bass) and Steve Liddle ( drums). The band's name is pronounced ("fisher zed"), a pun on "fish's head" with the "h" dropped, as is usual in many British regional accents.
