RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300
The RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas was an IndyCar Series race held at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. The IRL Indycar Series debuted the race in 2001. The first Indy/Championship races in the Kansas City area city took place in 1922-1924, at now-demolished Kansas City Speedway in Kansas City, Missouri. AAA held four races at the board track over three years. The final race was shortened from to due to damage to the track, and the series did not return. In 2007, the race was run on April 29, 2007. The move was made at the request of spectators and participants, in hopes of cooler weather for race day. The first six years saw the race held on very hot and humid July days, making it hard for the fans and drivers. With its new date, it will mark the last IRL race before the Indianapolis 500. Team Cheever
Cheever Racing was an auto racing team founded in 1996 by Eddie Cheever as Team Cheever in the Indy Racing League IndyCar Series. They fielded a car for Cheever for much of its existence, but occasionally ran two cars, almost always for the Indianapolis 500. The team won the 1998 Indianapolis 500 with Cheever driving and then switched to Infiniti engines and gained sponsorship from Excite for 2000. The team continued to be moderately successful and gained Infiniti's first series win. James Anthony Murphy (September 12, 1894 – September 15, 1924) was a Native American race car driver who won the 1921 French Grand Prix, the 1922 Indianapolis 500, and the American Racing Championship in 1922 and 1924. Background Murphy was born in San Francisco, California, on Minna Street, between 7th and 8th, in September 1894.
