Rizzo (band)
Rizzo was an American punk band from Los Angeles, California, United States. History Sarah Dale (drums and vocals) and Jen Abercrombie (guitar and vocals) formed the band in 1995. They originally called themselves Mopar, but after discovering that they had both played the role of Rizzo in their high school productions of '' Grease'', they changed their name to that of the character. In addition to the ''Phoning It In'' LP/CD produced in 2001, Rizzo released one single, recorded by Jimmy Tamborello, and two split singles. Abercrombie also contributed vocals to the Tullycraft albums '' City of Subarus'' and '' Disenchanted Hearts Unite''. American Laundromat Records is an independent record label founded in 2004 by Joe Spadaro. ALR specializes in almost annual indie rock compilation albums, which have included tracks by OK Go, The Dresden Dolls, and The Watson Twins. Compilation tributes have been dedicated to the Pixies, The Cure, Kim Deal, Neil Young, The Smiths, and the 1984 film '' Repo Man''. The release of a double-CD tribute album to Wes Anderson, ''I Saved Latin!'', was released in May 2014 and includes covers of David Bowie and The Kinks. Darla Records is an independent record label founded by James Agren in October 1993 while he was in New York. Darla's first release was a 7-inch by Grifters, an indie rock/lo-fi band from Memphis. Disenchanted Hearts Unite
''Disenchanted Hearts Unite'' is the fourth studio album from the indiepop band Tullycraft. The band recorded half of the album at Soundhouse Studios in Seattle, and the other half in guitarist, Chris Munford's living room. Jenny Mears provided additional vocals on many of the songs, and Corianton Hale also made a guest appearance. Shortly after the recording of the ''Disenchanted Hearts Unite'', lead guitarist, Harold Hollingsworth left the group and both Mears & Hale joined the band. Jen Abercrombie from the Los Angeles band Rizzo, who had contributed vocals to the City of Subarus album, appeared on the songs “Fall 4 U” and “Building The Robot.” The album reached #33 on the CMJ Top 200 chart in 2005. City Of Subarus
''City of Subarus'' is the second album from the indie pop band Tullycraft. Chris Munford from the band Incredible Force of Junior joined Tullycraft prior to the recording of this album, making the three piece a foursome. On this sophomore release, Tullycraft introduced electronic beats and a punk-ish sound contrasting with their debut Old Traditions, New Standards. The entire record was self-recorded using an Otari MX5050 8-track analog tape machine at a house rented by Munford and drummer Jeff Fell. The house was located across the street from a Subaru dealership, inspiring the album's title. Jen Abercrombie from the Los Angeles band Rizzo provided additional vocals on many of the songs. Tullycraft
Tullycraft is an American indie pop band from Seattle, Washington, that formed in 1995. They have been associated with the genre of twee pop; in fact, they are considered to be one of the true pioneers of the American twee pop movement. They are known for their DIY ethic, only releasing albums on independently owned and operated record labels. History Formation and early recordings The band's original line-up was Sean Tollefson (bass/vocals), Gary Miklusek (guitar/vocals), and Jeff Fell (drums). Prior to forming Tullycraft, both Tollefson and Fell played in the band Crayon in Bellingham, Washington and Miklusek played in the band Wimp Factor 14 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. James Scott "Jimmy" Tamborello, also known by his stage name Dntel , is an American electronic music artist and DJ. Aside from his main solo project, Tamborello is also known as a member of the groups The Postal Service, Headset, and Figurine, where he is sometimes cited as James Figurine. Personal life Tamborello's father was a jazz saxophone player, flautist, and a songwriter for many Santa Barbara, California-based bands. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock".
