Riverside Drive is a northeast–southwest road connecting the San Fernando Valley and Downtown Los Angeles, California. It follows the course of the Los Angeles River. Overview Running approximately from Van Nuys Boulevard in Sherman Oaks to Figueroa Street at the far northern edge of Downtown Los Angeles, it is one of the major thoroughfares in the San Fernando Valley. It runs through the heart of the Valley and is home to many of Southern California's major entertainment companies, passing both the Warner Bros. and Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. Then it enters West Glendale and continues as a major thoroughfare until it intersects with Victory Boulevard and Sonora Avenue. The Walt Disney Studios, located in Burbank, California, United States, serves as the corporate headquarters for The Walt Disney Company media conglomerate. The 51-acre (20.6 ha) studio lot also contains several sound stages, a backlot, and other filmmaking production facilities for Walt Disney Studios's motion picture production. The complex also houses the offices for the company's many divisions, with the exception of the 20th Century Studios (formerly 20th Century Fox), which remains on its namesake lot in Century City. Sherman Oaks is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California located in the San Fernando Valley, founded in 1927. The neighborhood includes a portion of the Santa Monica Mountains, which gives Sherman Oaks a lower population density than some other areas in Los Angeles. History A partner of the Los Angeles Suburban Homes Company, Gen. Moses Hazeltine Sherman, developed Sherman Oaks. The company had subdivided of land that would become Sherman Oaks. Westfield Fashion Square
Westfield Fashion Square is a shopping mall in the Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys areas of Los Angeles, California. It is owned by Westfield Group. The mall features the traditional retailers Bloomingdale's and Macy's. The mall opened on April 22, 1962, as Bullock's Fashion Square, anchored by Bullock's and I. Magnin department stores. It was officially dedicated on August 13, 1962. Later known as Fashion Square Sherman Oaks, the mall added a Joseph Magnin store in 1966 and The Broadway department store in 1977. From 1988 to 1990, the outdoor mall was enclosed and double-decked with a Mediterranean theme. In 1994, the mall suffered serious damage from the Northridge earthquake. Valley Village is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, located within the San Fernando Valley. History Founding According to Elke Garman, co-president of the Valley Village Homeowners Association in 1991, the history of Valley Village went back to the 1930s, when workers at nearby motion picture studios built houses there.
