Rivers State, also known as Rivers, is a state in the Niger Delta region of southern Nigeria (Old Eastern Region). Formed in 1967, when it was split from the former Eastern Region, Rivers State borders include: Imo to the north, Abia and Akwa Ibom to the east, and Bayelsa and Delta to the west. Betty Okagua Apiafi
Betty Jocelyne Okagua - Apiafi (born 19 February 1962) is a Nigerian politician, economist, retired banker and educationist. Apiafi was elected to the Nigerian Senate for Rivers West Senatorial District in 2019. She has also served as a House of Representatives Member for Abua/Odual-Ahoada East Federal Constituency of Rivers State since 2007. She is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Ahoada West (also spelt Ahuda West) is a Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, located northwest of Port Harcourt. It was extracted in 1996 from the old Ahoada Local Government that makes up the present Orashi Region of Rivers State. Its seat is in the town of Akinima. Bonny, Rivers State
Bonny (originally Ibani) is a traditional, coastal town and a Local Government Area in Rivers State in southern Nigeria, on the Bight of Bonny. It is also the capital of the Kingdom of Bonny. Traditionally (especially between the 15th and 19th centuries) it was a major trading post of the eastern Delta, and its economy witnessed the sale of slaves. Bonny Island is a major export point for oil today. The region produces a type of crude oil known as Bonny Light oil. Much of the oil extracted onshore in Rivers State is piped to Bonny for export. It has the biggest LNG Gas Plant in Nigeria with six (6) trains. Degema is a Local Government Area in Rivers State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Degema. Degema is situated in Rivers state in the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria and has its headquarters in the town of Degema. The population of Degema local government area is estimated at 138,941 inhabitants with the majority of the people residing there being members of the Degema and Ijaw tribal divisions. Ogba–Egbema–Ndoni (also spelled Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni) is a Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria (Old Ahoada LGA) under Rivers West Senatorial District, with its capital at Omoku. Osinakachukwu Ideozu (born July 1965) is a Nigerian entrepreneur, businessman and politician. He was a member of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria were he represented the Rivers West Senatorial District. Soala Ibiapuye Martyns-Yellowe was elected Senator for the Rivers West constituency of Rivers State, Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, running on the People's Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He took office on 29 May 1999. He was reelected in April 2003. Martyns-Yellowe was born on 12 November 1945 in Bakana, Degema Local Government Area, Rivers State.
