Rivers State Civil Service Commission
The Rivers State Civil Service Commission is a statutorily constituted executive body authorized to oversee the development and administration of the state's civil service system. It also has power to make appointments, exercise disciplinary control and remove persons holding or acting in offices within the civil service. The Commission is headed by a Chairman, who is appointed by the Governor with the consent of the State House of Assembly. The Rivers State Civil Service (RSCS) is the body of professional civil servants entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out the policies of the Rivers State government in relation to infrastructural development and social service delivery. Governance The body is led by the Head of Service (HOS), a member of the executive council, who is the most senior administrative official within the civil service of Rivers State. The civil servants are found mainly in the ministries and parastatals, where they perform their duties, progressing based on qualifications and seniority. The Governor of Rivers State is the chief executive of the Rivers State government and is one of the governors of the thirty-six states of Nigeria. The governor is supported by the Deputy Governor, both popularly elected for a term of four years (maximum of two terms).
