Riverbank High School is located at 6200 Claus Road in Riverbank, California, and is one of the two high schools in the Riverbank Unified School District along with Adelante High School, an alternative education school. Athletics The school's sports teams are known as the Bruins. In 2008, Riverbank's German Fernandez set a national record in the 3200m while winning the California State High School championship in the 1,600 meters (4:00.29) and the 3,200 meters (8:34.23) runs. He later broke the 2 mile record at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. Riverbank, California
Riverbank is a city in Stanislaus County, California, United States. The population was 24,623 at the 2020 census, up from 15,826 at the 2000 census. Incorporated on August 23, 1922, Riverbank's official slogan is "City of Action." It is part of the Modesto Metropolitan Statistical Area. Riverbank was founded as a ferry crossing, and was established as a town with the coming of the San Francisco and San Joaquin Valley Railroad, which was soon acquired by the Santa Fe Railroad. The town holds a Cheese & Wine Exposition each October. It is named for its location on the Stanislaus River. History In the 1850s, the Riverbank area was known as Burneyville. Adelante High School (Riverbank, California)
Adelante High School is one of seven high schools in the Roseville Joint Union High School District in Roseville, Placer County, California. Established in 1965, Adelante High School had only eight students and one instructor and occupied a single room of the Roseville City District's Atlantic Street School. The following year, Adelante moved to the Placer County Fairgrounds where the program grew steadily as the demand for alternative education grew. German Fernandez
German Fernandez (born November 2, 1990) is a retired American professional runner from Riverbank, California, known for his performance in high school and collegiate cross country and track and field. Later he trained under Jerry Schumacher for the Bowerman Track Club. He is most well known for running the California Cross Country State Meet course record (14:24), as well as running a new American high-school record, 8:34.40 for two miles, at the 2008 Nike Outdoor Nationals championship. He also holds the World Junior Indoor Mile record at 3:55.02. A local meet in Riverbank, California, the German Fernandez Distance Carnival, is named after him. Running career High school Fernandez was coached by Bruce Edwards of Riverbank High School, which competes in Division IV of the Sac-Joaquin Section. Fernandez first drew some attention as a high school freshman in track, when he raced 1600m in 4:22.95.

CIF California State Meet
The CIF California State Meet is the annual championship track and field meet for the California Interscholastic Federation. The meet was started in 1915 for boys and 1974 for girls. Every athlete in every high school in California has a direct qualification path that can reach the state meet (except for five schools that compete in Nevada). In recent years a minimum of 27 athletes in each event reach this final meet of the official track and field season. Beyond those 27 who can qualify by placing in their individual section finals, "at-large" standards have been established to allow additional competitors to make the field. The meet and the organization has undergone some changes in format over the years.
