River East Collegiate
River East Collegiate is a public high school located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, that belongs to the River East Transcona School Division. River East has a school population of approximately 1,250 students. The school colours are blue and white and the school mascot is the Kodiak bear (Kody). The Legislative Assembly of Manitoba (french: Assemblée législative du Manitoba) is the deliberative assembly of the Manitoba Legislature in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Matthew Robert Rudolph "Matt" Wiebe, is a Canadian politician who is the current Minister of Justice and the Attorney General for Manitoba since October 18, 2023. Wiebe was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in a by-election on March 2, 2010. He succeeded the province's former premier, Gary Doer (NDP). A member of the New Democratic Party of Manitoba (NDP), he represents the electoral district of Concordia. He was re-elected in 2011, 2016, 2019 and 2023. The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a men's professional minor league basketball organization. The CEBL was founded in 2017 and began play in 2019 with six teams competing all owned and operated by ownership group Canadian Basketball Ventures. The league currently consists of ten teams from six different provinces, with four being from Ontario, two from Alberta and one each from the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, making the CEBL the largest professional sports league based entirely in Canada. Miles Macdonell Collegiate is a high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba that opened in September 1952 and is part of the River East Transcona School Division. It is one of the six schools in Manitoba that participate in the International Baccalaureate Program. The school offers classes in French Immersion geared towards university attendance in either official language. Miles Macdonell also offers several vocational tracks of study. Students may also complete a dual diploma, earning both an academic high school diploma and technical/vocational certification.
