''Ritorna il tenente Sheridan'' is an Italian television series in six episodes of the detective genre, produced in 1963 by RAI and centered around the figure of Lieutenant Sheridan, played by the actor Ubaldo Lay. Ubaldo Lay
Ubaldo Lay (14 April 1917 - 27 September 1984) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Life and career Born in Rome as Ubaldo Bussa, after graduating in law, Lay was admitted to the Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1939, from which he graduated with honors. He debuted on stage in 1945 and on films in 1946. Active on radio, in 1951 Lay moved to New York City where he hosted several radio programs for Italo-Americans audiences. Back in Italy, he resumed his radio and stage activities and debuted in television in 1956.Aldo Grasso, Massimo Scaglioni, ''Enciclopedia della Televisione'', Garzanti, Milano, 1996 – 2003. . Lay's breakout role was Lieutenant Sheridan, that he played in five RAI crime series and in several television films. Mario Casacci (12 August 1925, in Pontedera – 8 July 1995, in Rome) was an Italian screenwriter. He is best known as the co-creator of the character of Lieutenant Sheridan, who was played on the small screen by the actor Ubaldo Lay. Casacci's co-creator was his colleague Alberto Ciambricco In 1959, he also co-created, again with Ciambricco, the television program Giallo club. Mario Landi (12 October 1920 – 18 March 1992) was an Italian director known for his giallo movies such as ''Giallo a Venezia'' and his television series ''Le inchieste del commissario Maigret''.
