Frank Riseley
Frank Lorymer Riseley (6 July 1877 – 6 February 1959) was a British tennis player. He was a three time Wimbledon singles finalist (1903, 1904, 1906), two time Wimbledon doubles champion (1902, 1906) and won ten career singles titles. Career Risley played his first tournament at the Warwickshire Championships in 1892 losing to Wilberforce Eaves in the second round in two straight sets. In 1895 after playing in sixteen events during the previous three years he won his first title at the Waterloo Tournament in Liverpool, Lancashire. The same year he reached the all comers final of the prestigious Northern Championships before losing to Herbert Baddeley in five sets. In 1896 he retained his Waterloo title by way of a walkover against Arthur Henry Riseley. In 1896 he won the Sheffield and Hallamshire Championships at Sheffield, Yorkshire defeating Edward Roy Allen three sets to love. Martin Riseley
Martin Riseley (born 10 February 1969 in Christchurch, New Zealand) is a violinist and Head of Strings (violin) at the New Zealand School of Music. Formerly, he was concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Riseley began violin studies at age 6, and gave his first solo concert at age 10. He studied with Carl Pini, Dorothy DeLay, and Felix Galimir. He graduated from the Juilliard School in 1996 with a Doctorate of Musical Arts. In August 1994, Riseley was appointed concertmaster of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, a position he held until August 2010. He has performed the North American premieres of the violin concerto ''The Bulls of Bashan'' by Gavin Bryars, and the ''Violin Concerto'' (2002) by Allan Gilliland. Riseley, Bedfordshire
Riseley is a village and civil parish located in North Bedfordshire, England. The village name has had alternative spellings in the past such as Rislau, Riseleg, Riselai and Risely, however all these spellings are considered archaic. It has a population of 1,284 according to the 2001 census, increasing to 1,286 at the 2011 Census, and is near the villages of Bletsoe, Sharnbrook, Swineshead, Pertenhall, Keysoe, Thurleigh and Melchbourne. The nearest town to Riseley is Rushden in the neighbouring county of Northamptonshire, approximately 8 miles away to the north west. The county town of Bedford is approximately 9 miles to the South of Riseley. The village has one watercourse, which is a tributary of the River Ouse, flowing through it known locally as the 'Brook' around which in medieval times the village was built.
