Ripun Bora
Ripun Bora is a leader of the All India Trinamool Congress party hailing from Assam. He is now serving as President of the Assam Trinamool Congress. He was the former President, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, MP of Rajya Sabha for Assam and Ex- Education Minister Govt of Assam. On 21 March 2016, he has been elected to the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Indian Parliament along with Ranee Narah also from the Indian National Congress. Congress got support from AIUDF for the biennial Rajya Sabha election held on that day. Out of 114 MLAs, 85 (67 of INC, 16 of AIUDF, 1 Independent, 1 BJP voted for the Congress candidate. AGP, BJP, BPF boycotted the election even when it had earlier committed to support Mahabir Jain who had filed nomination paper as Independent. Ranee Narah
Ranee Narah (born 31 October 1965) is an Indian National Congress politician from Assam, and former Rajya Sabha MP for the state between 2016-2022. She was previously a three-term Lok Sabha MP from Lakhimpur constituency, 1998-2004 and 2009-2014, and Minister of State in the Union Tribal Affairs ministry from 2012 to 2014. Biography Narah is a graduate of Gauhati University. She played professional cricket as captain of the Assam state team. She was President of the Women's Cricket Association of India (WCAI) until its merger with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2006. She was a member of the BCCI Women's Committee. Narah has also served as President of the Assam Women's Cricket Association, and Vice-President of the Assam Cricket Association and Assam Football Association. Rajya Sabha Members From Assam
The Rajya Sabha (meaning the "Council of States") is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Assam elects 7 seats since 1956 (one more than 1952-1956). Members are indirectly elected by state legislators (elected politicians) of Assam. The number of the seven seats allocated to each party is proportional to the legislators' number at the time of nomination. Each party in Assam thus meeting a minimum quota of of the local seats nominates a member; if a party has to ths of the local seats those legislators select two members (and so forth). The All India United Democratic Front (also known as AIUDF and ''Sarva Bharatiya Sanyukt Ganatantric Morcha'') is a political party active in the Indian state of Assam.
