Ringette Finland
Ringette Finland, ( fi, Suomen Ringetteliitto) is the national governing body for the sport of ringette in Finland and was founded in 1983. It is responsible for the organization and promotion ringette on a nationwide basis and organizes Finland's semi-professional ringette league, the , now known as "SM-Ringette". In 1986 the organization became a member of the International Ringette Federation which at the time was known as the "World Ringette Council". Ringette Finland is also responsible for scouting ringette talent in the country in order to create the Finland national ringette team, Finland national ringette teams for both Finland national ringette team#Team Finland Senior, Team Finland Senior and Finland national ringette team#Team Finland Junior, Team Finland Junior who then compete at the World Ringette Championships. Ringette
Ringette is a contact sport, non-contact winter team sport played on ice hockey rinks using Ice skates#Ice hockey skates, ice hockey skates, straight sticks with drag-tips, and a #Equipment, blue, rubber, pneumatic ring designed for use on ice surfaces. The sport is among a small number of organized team sports created exclusively for female competitors. Though ice hockey rinks are used, #Ringette rink, ringette rinks use markings specific to ringette and the sport uses strategic play which more closely resembles basketball than ice hockey. The sport was created in Canada for girls in 1963 by Sam Jacks from West Ferris, Ontario and Red McCarthy from Espanola, Ontario. In 2018, over 50,000 players registered to play the sport. Tuusula
Tuusula (; sv, Tusby ) is a municipality of Finland. It belongs to the Helsinki sub-region of the Uusimaa region. National Ringette League
The National Ringette League (NRL), ''(french: Ligue Nationale de Ringuette, LNR)'', is the premier sports league for the sport of ringette in North America and Canada's national league for elite ringette players aged 18+. All of the NRL's elite athletes are women, one of ringette's distinctive features. The NRL is a semi-professional league which operates as a showcase league for the sport and is the first and only winter team sports league in North America whose entire elite athlete roster involves players who are women rather than men. The league's inaugural year was in November of 2004 and had completed seventeen seasons of play by the end of the 2021-22 season. Antero Kivelä
Antero Simo Tapani Kivelä (born 26 December 1955) is a retired Finnish ice hockey goaltender. After his playing career, Kivelä coached several ice hockey, rinkball and ringette teams in Finland. Kivelä is also member of the city council in Pori for the Left Alliance. Kivelä played his entire career for Ässät Pori. He made 58 appearances in the Finland national team and took part at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Kivelä is also the chairman of women's soccer club NiceFutis. The Sweden Ringette Association, ( sv, Svenska Ringetteförbundet) sometimes abbreviated in English as the "SRA", is the national governing body for the sport of ringette in Sweden and was founded in 1994. The SRA is responsible for the promotion of ringette on a nationwide basis and organizes the country's elite national ringette competition, the Ringette Dam-SM, which was also established in 1994. In 2003, the SRA was elected as an associate member of the Swedish Sports Confederation ( sv, Riksidrottsförbundet, RF). Ringette was introduced to Sweden in the 1980s. Rinkball
Rinkball is a winter team sport played on ice with ice skates and is most popular in Finland, where it is known as ''kaukalopallo''. This ball sport originated in Sweden in the 1960s and from there landed in Finland in the 1970s. The objective of a game is to score more goals than the opposing team. A bandy ball is used, but the ball is slighly smaller and blue instead of the orange or cerise used in bandy. Rinkball sticks are a sport specific design. Rinkball combines elements of bandy, rink bandy, and ice hockey, but is now a separately organized sport after developing its own organizing bodies, codifying its own rules, and having designed its own sport-specific equipment. Ringette World Club Championship
The Ringette World Club Championship (RWCC) was an international ringette competition organized by the International Ringette Federation (IRF). It featured the top teams from Canada's National Ringette League (NRL), Finland's , and Sweden's Ringette Dam-SM. The World Club Championship was only held twice, the first time in 2008 and the last time in 2011. In 2013 the IRF cancelled the 2014 Championship which was planned to be organized in Sweden. After the original two international tournaments, the club competition was discontinued due to financial difficulties preventing teams from participating. Ilves (; Finnish language, Finnish for "Eurasian lynx, Lynx") is a Finland, Finnish professional ice hockey team based in Tampere. They play in the Liiga at the Tampere Deck Arena. The 2012 World Junior Ringette Championships, (''2012 WJRC'') also known as the ''U19 2012 World Championships'', was an international ringette tournament and the 2nd edition of the World Junior Ringette Championships organized by the International Ringette Federation (IRF). It was contested in London, Ontario, Canada, between December 29, 2012, and January 3, 2013. The junior tournament was organized exclusively for elite junior national ringette teams. Venues included the Western Fair Sports Centre. Video of the games were produced as webcasts by Sports Canada.tv.
