Rimantas Grigas
Rimantas Grigas (born 1962, Klaipėda) is a Lithuanian basketball coach, known for his stint with Žalgiris Kaunas. He was coaching Atletas Kaunas in the 1996-1999 season. Before entering Žalgiris Kaunas coach staff, he was signed with Žalgiris stand-in. Before the resignation of previous head coach Ainars Bagatskis, he was his assistant. He was also head coach of BC Budivelnyk, and assumed the Belarus women's national basketball team in 2012, qualifying them for two EuroBasket Women and the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women before leaving in 2014. In 2013 he became head coach of BC Pieno žvaigždės, helping BC Pieno žvaigždės reach 5th place in the LKL in his lone season. He is the current head coach of the U18 Lithuanian national basketball team. He also worked with BC Tsmoki-Minsk. Basketball Club Minsk ( be, Мінск) is a professional basketball club that is based in the city of Minsk, Belarus. They play in the Belarus Premier League and the VTB United League. The team plays its home games at the Minsk Arena. Established in 2006 as BC Minsk-2006, the club has been the most successful team in Belarusian basketball. The Lithuanian Basketball Federation ( lt, Lietuvos krepšinio federacija), also known as LKF, is a national governing body of basketball in Lithuania. It was founded in 1936, but due to Soviet occupation, the federation disappeared from FIBA. It was reinstated in 1991, following the Independence of Lithuania. The BC Jonava, known for sponsorship reasons as the BC CBet ( lt, Jonavos CBet; en, CBet Jonava), are a Lithuanian professional basketball team based in Jonava. The CBet compete in the Lietuvos Krepšinio Lyga (LKL). The club was officially founded in 1999, and had been playing in the second-tier Lithuanian basketball league NKL (formerly known as LKAL) since its inception. BC Pieno žvaigždės ( lt, Krepšinio klubas Pieno žvaigždės) is a professional basketball club from Pasvalys, Lithuania which currently plays in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). 2014 FIBA World Championship For Women
The 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, the 17th edition of FIBA's premier international tournament for women's national basketball teams, was held in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey from 27 September to 5 October 2014. This tournament implemented the new expanded free throw lane, the restricted arc, and extended 3-point line (6.6–6.75 m). The United States defended their title and won their ninth overall gold medal by beating Spain 77–64 in the final. Australia defeated Turkey 74–44 to capture the bronze medal. This was the last FIBA championship to use the name of "FIBA World Championship for Women". EuroBasket Women is a biennial international women's basketball competition held between the nations of FIBA Europe for women's national teams. EuroBasket Women is also used as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Women's World Cup and also the Olympic Games.
