Riki Hoeata
Richard Hoeata (born 15 January 1988) is a former New Zealand rugby union player and the founder of Craft Smoothie, a New Zealand-wide smoothie box delivery service. He played in the lock (and occasionally flanker) position for Taranaki and Tasman. Aged only 21, Hoeata started his career with Taranaki after he was named for their 2009 pre-season campaign. After his 2010 opening season, the impression left on selectors was positive, leading to Hoeata moving south from the North Island to make his provincial debut for Tasman during the 2011 ITM Cup. He earned his first NPC start in Tasman's 9–19 loss over Northland in week one of the competition, he made a further six appearances and crossed the line once. 2011 ITM Cup
The 2011 ITM Cup season was the sixth season of New Zealand's provincial rugby union competition since it turned professional in 2006. The regular season began on July 14, when Otago hosted North Harbour. It involved the top fourteen rugby unions of New Zealand. For sponsorship reasons, the competition was known as the ITM Cup and it was the second season under the lead sponsor. The winner of the Championship, Hawke's Bay was promoted to the Premiership, the seventh placed Premiership team, Southland was relegated to the Championship. Format The ITM Cup standings were sorted by a competition points system. Four points were awarded to the winning team, a draw equaled two points, whilst a loss amounted to zero points. The Northland Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in Northland, New Zealand; Northland is a region of New Zealand that covers areas in the districts of Far North, Kaipara, and Whangārei. Established in 1920, they represent the Bunnings NPC side, Northland Taniwha, and Farah Palmer Cup side, Northland Kauri. It is also affiliated with the Blues Super Rugby franchise. National Provincial Championship (2006–present)
The National Provincial Championship, often simply called the NPC, is an annual round-robin rugby union competition in men's domestic New Zealand rugby. First played during the 2006 season, it is the second highest level of competition in New Zealand alongside the Ranfurly Shield. It is organised by New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and since 2021, it has been known as the Bunnings NPC after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Farah Palmer Cup. Following the 2005 season the league was restructured into a two-tier competition. The National Provincial Championship would include professional and semi-professional players, and consist of the top fourteen financial and best performing regional teams.
