Rikard Lenac
Rikard Lenac (March 16, 1868 – 1949) was a lawyer and a one-time governor of the city of Rijeka. Lenac was born in Rijeka, a son of the navy captain Mate Lenac from Martinšćica, and Antonija, née. Lučić, from Volosko. The father, commander of the Austrian brigantine ''Pietro'', died in Brazil, when he was five years old. After his father's death the mother remarried with captain Vjenceslav Harasim from Lovran. From that marriage the famous writer and pedagogic Gemma Harasim was born, who maintained an epistolary relationship with her half-brother throughout her life. Brigantine
A brigantine is a two-masted sailing vessel with a fully square-rigged foremast and at least two sails on the main mast: a square topsail and a gaff sail mainsail (behind the mast). The main mast is the second and taller of the two masts. Lovran
Lovran ( it, Laurana, german: Lauran) is a village and a municipality in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia. It is situated in eastern Istria, on the western coast of the Kvarner Bay with a population of 4,101 in the municipality and 3,336 in the town itself ( 2011 census). Its name derives from Laurel (''Laurus nobilis''), as shown in the coat of arms. Lovran is one of the oldest coastal settlements on the eastern shore of Istrian peninsula. Gemma Harasim
Gemma Harasim (1876 in Fiume – 1961 in Rome) was a known pedagogical writer from Fiume. From 1907 to 1909, she got a scholarship from the municipality of Fiume to study at the University of Florence. There she got in contact with the intellectual circle centered on "La Voce". She wrote four letters on the situation in Fiume that were published as ''Lettere da Fiume''. She married Giuseppe Lombardo Radice, one of the first Italian pedagogues.
