The Rider Broncs baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, United States. The team is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division I. The team plays its home games at Sonny Pittaro Field in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland. Members are all relatively small private institutions, a majority Catholic or formerly Catholic, with the only exceptions being two secular institutions: Rider University and Quinnipiac University. The MAAC currently sponsors 25 sports and has 17 associate member institutions. Jeff Kunkel
Jeffrey William Kunkel (born March 25, 1961) is a former shortstop in Major League Baseball with the Texas Rangers and Chicago Cubs. The son of the late American League pitcher and umpire Bill Kunkel, after receiving All-American honors as a shortstop, he was chosen in the first round (3rd overall) of the 1983 Major League Baseball Draft out of Rider University. Growing up in the Leonardo section of Middletown Township, New Jersey, Kunkel was an all-around athlete who participated in soccer, basketball and baseball during his high school years at Middletown High School South in New Jersey. List Of NCAA Division I Baseball Programs
The following is a list of schools that participate in NCAA Division I baseball. In the 2022 season, 301 Division I schools competed. These teams compete to go to the 64-team Division I baseball tournament and then to Omaha, Nebraska, and Charles Schwab Field, for the eight-team Men's College World Series (MCWS). Conference affiliations are current for the coming 2023 NCAA baseball season. Years of conference changes, indicated in footnotes, reflect baseball seasons, which take place in the calendar year after a conference change takes effect. Nick Margevicius
Nicholas Phillip Margevicius ( ; born June 18, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. Career Amateur Margevicius attended Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio. After high school, Margevicius attended Rider University, where he played college baseball. In 2016, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Kevin Thomas Barry (born August 18, 1978) is an American former right-handed pitcher for the Atlanta Braves and current area scout for the Braves. Additionally, Barry is currently employed as a police officer for Kinmundy, Illinois. The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team based in Baltimore. James Urban Hoey (born December 30, 1982) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins between 2006 and 2011. Early years Hoey returned to the Trenton area in his sophomore year of high school and played for the Hamilton High School West varsity baseball team. In his senior year of high school, Hoey helped the team to win the NJSIAA Group III state championship with a 13-1 season. This was the school's first championship in its 70-year history. Jack William Armstrong (born March 7, 1965) is an American former Major League Baseball right-handed pitcher who played for several teams between 1988 and 1994. He is a graduate of Neptune High School in Neptune Township, New Jersey, where he once struck out 22 batters in a nine-inning game, and an alumnus of Rider College and the University of Oklahoma.
