Ricky Quade
Ricky Quade (born 26 August 1950) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Quade later became better known as the inaugural coach of the Sydney Swans, when South Melbourne relocated to the Harbour City in 1982, and also served the club in various administrative roles. Quade originally supported , the club that his older brothers Tom and Mike had played for, but with the advent of zoned country recruitment in late 1967, Quade would end up joining South Melbourne from Ariah Park - Mirool, New South Wales in 1970, after kicking 131 goals in the South West Football League (New South Wales) and finishing third in the SWDFL senior best and fairest medal, the Gammage Medal in 1969. Narrandera
Narrandera ( ) until around 1949 also spelled "Narandera", is a town located in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales, Australia. The town lies on the junction of the Newell and Sturt highways, adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River, and it is considered the gateway to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. At the 2016 census, Narrandera had a population of 3,746 people. History Narrandera is a river town with a rich heritage. Captain Charles Sturt is credited with being the first European to observe the area that later was to become known as Narrandera. South West Football League (New South Wales)
The South West District Football League was a major Australian rules football competition which ran from 1910 until 1981 in the Riverina region of New South Wales. History The first recorded Australian Rules Football match in the Riverina area was on the 1st August, 1881 between Wagga Wagga and the more experienced Albury team and was played in Wagga. The South West District Football Association (SWDFL) was formed in 1913, when it superseded the Ganmain Football Association, which was formed in 1910, with all clubs moving into play in the SWDFL competition. In 1924 a South Western District Football League team played Collingwood Football Club at Narrandera with Collingwood winning, 86 to SWDFL 76. In May, 1930 the SWDFL competition was abandoned, after Whitton withdrew earlier at the AGM, then both Ganmain and Matong club withdrew due to a lack of players. Jim Prentice (footballer)
James Ernest Prentice (28 December 1949 – 24 September 2010) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Prentice returned to play with Ariah Park - Mirrool and won two South West Football League best and fairest awards, the Gammage Medal in 1975 and 1977 and was runner up in 1979 too. Prentice was captain coach of Ariah Park - Mirrool from 1976 to 1977. Prentice was captain-coach of Devonport Football Club for one year in 1978 and won the Wander Medal in the North West Football Union, while playing with Devonport. Prentice then returned to play with Ariah Park - Mirrool and was captain of the 1979 South West Football League inter league representative side. Michael Thomas Quade (born 16 September 1944) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He played over a period of three seasons for North Melbourne as a Ruckman. Due to a persistent leg injury he was forced to retire early in his playing career. Ariah Park, New South Wales
Ariah Park () is a small town in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia, west of Temora and south of West Wyalong. The town is within the Temora Shire near Burley Griffin Way. On Census night 2011, Ariah Park had a population of 268 people. The town is listed by the National Trust as a Conservation Area. The town's name came from resident Sam Harrison who purchased a portion of the Wellman Estate and then named that portion ''Ariah Park'' (pronounced 'area').
