Ricky Lynn Bell (April 8, 1955 – November 28, 1984) was an American professional football player who was a running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Diego Chargers of the National Football League. Bell was a star in college for the University of Southern California, gaining 1,875 yards rushing in his junior season. The #1 Overall Selection in the 1977 NFL Draft, Bell was inducted posthumously into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2004. Early years Born in Houston, Texas, Bell moved to Los Angeles at age eleven and starred in football at its John C. Fremont High School. Bell was the brother of Archie Bell, lead singer of the 1960s R & B group Archie Bell and the Drells and Jerry Bell, lead singer of the 1970s and 80s funk bands The Dazz Band and The New Birth. Ricky Bell (cornerback)
Richard Bell (October 2, 1974 – February 17, 2011) was a cornerback who went to North Carolina State University and played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Chicago Bears, the Barcelona Dragons, the Orlando Rage, the Calgary Stampeders, the Ottawa Renegades, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Montreal Alouettes. He won a Grey Cup championship in 2001 with Calgary. He was signed by the Georgia Force of the AFL on March 20, 2008. Bell died on February 17, 2011. Ricardo Bell (born September 18, 1967) is an American singer and actor best known as one of the founding members of R&B/ pop group New Edition, and the lead singer of Bell Biv DeVoe. As a solo artist, Bell released the album ''Ricardo Campana'' in 2000. Early life and career The youngest of eleven children, Bell was born in Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in the Orchard Park Projects. He began his career singing with close friend Ralph Tresvant in the group Ricky and Ralph. Later, Bell, along with Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant, and Ronnie DeVoe formed New Edition. The group began a career in 1978 that has spanned more than 30 years. After the departure of Brown, Johnny Gill joined the group in the mid-1980s. Before Gill joined the group, Bell was originally the oldest member of New Edition.
