Rick And Thel Carey
Rick and Thel Carey were an Australian country music duo, consisting of husband and wife Richard Bruce Carey (13 August 192728 July 2017) and Thelma Claurine Carey (née Hoctor; 9 October 19292 October 1998). Rick Carey, originally from Sydney and Thelma Hoctor, who grew up in Glossodia, commenced their respective careers as solo artists. However, after they met in the 1940s, they established themselves as a duo, the Sliprail Swingsters. Following their win on ''Australia's Amateur Hour'' in 1950, they married in 1952 and became Rick and Thel. They toured Australia extensively, and were referred to as country music's "singing sweethearts" and then as "Mr. & Mrs. Country". Denmark is a coastal town located on Wilson Inlet in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, south-south-east of the state capital of Perth. History The ''Western Herald'' was first published in 1887. The founding editor of the newspaper was Edward Davis Millen. Philip Chapman was taken into partnership around 1889, and was editor until 1918, when the newspaper was purchased by brothers Archibald and Samuel Carmichael. Chadwick William "Chad" Morgan OAM (born 11 February 1933) is an Australian country music singer and guitarist known for his vaudeville style of comic country and western songs, his prominent teeth and goofy stage persona. In reference to his first recording, he is known as " The Sheik of Scrubby Creek". Biography Morgan was born in Wondai, Queensland, the eldest of 14 children to Dave and Ivy Morgan. From an early age he was raised by his grandparents, Bill and Eva Hopkins. Regal Zonophone Records was a British record label formed in 1932, through a merger of the Regal and Zonophone labels. Reginald John Lindsay OAM (7 July 1929 – 5 August 2008) was an Australian country music singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and radio and television personality. He won three Golden Guitar Awards and wrote more than 500 songs in his 50-year music career. Lindsay recorded over 65 albums and 250 singles. Reg made his first trip to Nashville in June 1968 and recorded his first Nashville EP on this historic trip. Lindsay's most popular cross-over hit was a cover version, "Armstrong" (March 1971), which reached No. 6 on the ''Go-Set'' National Top 60. It was written and originally performed by the American folk musician John Stewart as a tribute to Neil Armstrong's lunar landing in 1969. ''Australia's Amateur Hour'' was an important early Australian radio and television program in the form of a talent contest, which was broadcast from 1940 to 1958, which also aired briefly on television from 1957 to 1958. The radio version was originally compered by radio producer Harry Dearth, then by Dick Fair, and finally by Terry Dear (1913-1995). It was a popular, long-running program on which many performers appeared. The television version was compered by Terry Dear, and ran from August 1957 to February 1958. It aired on the Nine Network (TCN-9) and the Seven Network (HSV-7). The success of the radio version didn't translate to television, with the television version closing after only seven months, and the radio version shortly thereafter.
